I mostly went to try the winter bike shoes I bought just before getting the fattie - so they haven’t had much use. They were just warm enough for the 0-2C today. I remember them bein good to about -7C on a traditional bike. Maybe I’m just more of a wimp.

While I was out, I measured a loop I thought might be suitable for a 20km TT next year. It’s the north east bit on the map, intervals 5&6. 6.49km with only about 10m of elevation. Right at all controlled intersections. The route does have more traffic than last year, but probably not any tractors. It’s hard to say how that would balance out.

The ground was very hard on the bit I road home through the woods. A bit of suspension might be in order for this bike.

After a river walk with Mrs I thought it was silly not to stay out a bit so I did a trail ride of a 20km TT candidate for next year.

All right turns with no cross traffic intersections and pretty light traffic - most of it backing out of driveways.

The wind impacted the pace more than I expected, though I wasn’t really trying to go fast.

A few laps of the hills on the path to chip away at my elevation target. Got in about 1/3 of this week’s allocation.

The 5C was surprisingly pleasant with little wind.

I do think it’s time to replace the drivetrain on the trike. It’s got more distance, and far more elevation than anything I’ve owned.
