Note

I should have done a workout today, but by the time I cleared weeds, trimmed edges of grass, pieced together a video of Natchez Trace, did a test fit of what would go in the truck with the trike, and got the bulk of my packing done...I opted to chill for a bit.

Here is the Trace video:

Golf warm up/down 2:00:00 [2]

Played an executive course with FN and a high school friend. Clear sailing for 14 holes then it bunched up a bit. A nice relaxed outing with casual golfers.

The waits at the end did push it to my limits on my feet.

Today I set out to do some hills, but keep my heart rate in the endurance zone. There was more traffic than I would have liked on Woodbine, but I went there to minimize the intersections. Then I saw construction beyond Davis so went further east to avoid that. Davis was far too busy, but I only had to get to Warden to get back on quiet roads.

Since my heart had recovered quickly from all the little climbs, I pushed a bit harder on the east bound home stretch, where Aurora has put in a quality bike lane.

Lots of energy left, so I guess I’ll mow the lawn.

Dang that grass got long fast. Hate to imagine it when I get back from Calgary.

I had planned to do intervals today, but it was close to 30C and quite windy by the time I got to the marsh, so I decided to just ride along at an effort level I could sustain for my Ride to Conquer Cancer. So...manage to a heart rate average in the mid 140s.

At about 7km, a woman came up beside me and chatted about recumbents a bit. She thinks it might work for her father based on the reasons why I ride recumbent. Then she sat back and drafted me for a bit into the headwind. When we turned away from the wind, she went off on her own again.

When I reach the 400 for the second time, I decided to loop back and milk a tailwind for 3.5km. The strong pace with fairly light power expenditure in interval 7 gives a good indication how strong the wind was.

32C when I finished.

Golf warm up/down 2:00:00 [2] 5.4 km (22:13 / km)

Gave an executive course a try. Putted well on very slow greens covered with maple keys. About half of my second putts were inside a foot.

Pretty decent contact with the short irons, which was all a played for most of the course.

31C when I finished. I paced for the heat.
