flexibility 38:00 [1]

Late today to clean up a fridge leak on my kitchen floor.

Then first shovel of the day instead of the gym. I like to clean the snow before driving and making an ice sheet. It only took an hour today.

Cardio (Strada/Tacx) 1:24:47 intensity: (47 @1) + (1:03 @2) + (5:15 @3) + (11:07 @4) + (1:06:35 @5) 28.3 km (3:00 / km) +692m 2:40 / km

Zwift tour stage 6 group B

There was more than enough elevation in the middle route. Heavily back loaded with 2/3 of the climbing in the last 1/5 of the route.

Went with a nice little pack until the last climb and then just went with my own pace, passing a few.

Happy with the steady heart rate and the quick recovery

Zwift Tempus Fugit sprints

I jumped in with a pace group and did a sprint every 5km, then slowed to let the group catch me again. The catch took between 1 and 2.5km.

After the last sprint, I noticed I had a bit of a gap on my PB for a 7.2km segment, so tried to maintain that gap until we finished the segment.

Then a short cool down. I didn’t need much because heart recovery off the 200m sprints was good.

Other (Downhill ski) 1:43:08 [3] 18.33 km (5:38 / km) +1746m 3:49 / km

I finally got to use my Horseshow season pass. We won’t talk about the effective hourly rate.

It was overcast for the drive up, but sunny most of my time there. I used my older skis because the boots fit to them are easier to get on, and a bit more comfortable. Also they are set for me when I wasn’t as strong a skier. I thought the earlier release would be ok.

Got the new pass pretty quick. It now has an electronic ID so the lift gates open for you. When putting the pass in my jacket I noticed my last one was for 2008-09. Who knew!

First run was scary. I forgot how fast you pick up speed and was faster than I wanted to be very quickly. A couple of big gentle turns weren’t doing much to scrub speed...but I avoided a spill at 50km/hr. After that I settled into my crouch early to make sure I could move the skis without risk of cartwheeling and enjoyed the ride.

I mostly skied a run that hadn’t had the fresh powder groomed off of it - rare in my experience in Ontario except for New Years Day. It was a bit more work, but good practice. The other run I did had a few icy patches. All runs had big mounds of saved snow to push over thin spots another day.

When I noticed a bit of a rebellion in my right knee, I decided to take a few more runs to see how well I could manage it (very), then left before a forced sudden move hurt it.

Well worth the drive.

Cardio 1:30:00 [3]

Just under 2 hours to clean up my snow. There was enough to bury my stair. Front banks are almost as tall as my car. This was the biggest cleanup in long while. Any more snow and I probably would have taken a break part way through.

Took an extra hour of sleep this morning.

Cardio (Strada/Tacx) 1:25:52 intensity: (46 @1) + (1:06 @2) + (3:54 @3) + (9:54 @4) + (1:10:12 @5) 35.2 km (2:26 / km) +558m 2:16 / km

Zwift tour stage 3 group A

This was tough, in part because it was a much smaller group so splintered early. I did over half the the distance solo.

Lots of climbing in fairly big chunks. For the last 2.5km I decided to see if I could hold my lead on a pace group 10seconds behind me. They closed on me early, but I was able to add 15 sec to my gap on the last climb.

Started working on a T3 this morning. It might not be as hard as I thought, but still a nuisance.

Full range of motion in right elbow is in sight. Still a bit tender, but doesn’t feel like I need to be over protective.

Fitness class 58:00 [3]

Shoveled the little bit of snow we got, and noticed the glass on y passenger mirror has mysteriously disappeared.

Then fitness class. I used full weight for all the arm stuff - light weight with a gadzillion reps.
11 AM

Yoga warm up/down 1:00:00 [2]

Heavy lower back bias today. Perfect for me.

Not sure if my sock glue has enough grip left for a bike ride this afternoon.
