Cycling warm up/down 20:00 [2] 9.0 km (2:13 / km)

12 PM

Cycling race (Para Road Nationals ) 1:51:04 [4] 65.6 km (1:42 / km) +483m 1:38 / km
ahr:162 max:186 slept:8.5

This race was frustrating.
It was frustrating. Really

We were guttered on the first u-turn and off the back with two Quebec teams. The third (shawna and Joanie) was still with the men.

We got played by the Quebec girls. They refused to work to chase back on. I asked them, are you going to chase? They said we can't say yes because that's our team mate, but you can catch her probably. Carla and I chased for a full lap gapping them on the u turns and killing. Them on the hills they barely hub on. Then came around and guttered is on a u-turn, that was the last I had of that. I let them pull briefly. They slowed way way way down so I got back in front and hammer the hills again for them to try and gutter us on the next u-turn, instead I took it right and came around on the inside and sprinted the little hill. Then waved them through to pull after about 2 more k (this is now the end of two laps of erin and carla pulling). They slowed way down again. And wouldn't chase. Which is fair in a stage race and a strategy for a team win, but this is NATIONALS!! I was getting annoyed.
Carla gassed out with two laps to go and we lost the sprint to one of the other girls.

To add to my frustrations. Carla has been moving around on the bike A TON this weekend. The one national coach noticed today and how much it throws our line off and told Phil to fix tell her to keep her head down and not move. He said he noticed it about every 2k like clockwork she was shift her whole body and look around and cause the bike to jerk. I mentioned this to her on our pre ride on Tuesday and asked if I need to adjust her saddle or bars to make it more comfortable....nothing.

She was dead at the end of today's race which is good. She worked hard and I burnt her out. Now we have a new thug for her to work on to get stronger.

And third is alright.
Also, a number of folks noticed we pulled the whole race and were sprinted at the line. So. I guess that's something. Most combative is a thing.

Oh yeah.
And a giant fly possibly a bee flew into the back of my throats on a climb and I choked and then swallowed. It's either in my stomach or my lungs now.....it's part of me. It hurt. My throat is sore from insect impact

Cycling warm up/down 30:00 [2] 12.5 km (2:24 / km) +39m 2:22 / km

1 PM

Cycling race (Para national TT ) 29:17 [3] 20.0 km (1:28 / km) +41m 1:27 / km
max:182

I forgot to turn my Garmin on until about halfway through when I started trying to accurately count our gap.

It was windy and u-turns every 2.5km made it challenging to maintain a pace. Phil noticed that although I took the corners slow we were quicker to get back up to speed than a number of other racers.

We took second.

Many u-turns
Practiced taking them a bit hot and finding a good line.
Hard to do on an open road.
