Niagara Sprint. Woke up at 6am and ate. Felt like I had a good race in me today. Especially after warming up. Felt strong and the conditions were great. 4th Wave 9:09am start...

Swimming race (Lake) 13:11 [4] 0.7 km (18:50 / km)

Really good swim... found a fellow and drafted him for about 600m. Stayed relaxed and felt like I was conserving energy and let the guy do all the sighting which he did well passed him on the last bouy and brought it in pretty quick...
5/37 AG and 82/398 Overall.

Cycling race (Road) 48:15 [4] 25.0 km (1:56 / km)

As I pulled out on the bike the duathletes were coming in and it was too crowded mounted my bike and had to dodge a lady on the gravel got back and the road and was riding with a fellow right beside me on the left. Then I hear "LOOKOUT COMING THROUGH!!!" and I some @#*HOLE tries to pass on my left!!! Next thing I know I CRASH... everyone went on including the clown and I was left trying to get organized. My chained was off inside and I couldn't get it on. My Aero drink was on the gravel and I couldn't see the elastics. I thought what am I going to do... I tried to put eh drink into my cages but, wasn't going to work. I decided to try the chain I ripped my hand and couldn't get it on. I decided to clock my time off the bike b/c I sensed I would be a while. I looked back in frustration and saw my elastics 10 feet behind and waited (tons of people were riding by) until I could grab them. I would need what liquid was left. I put my bottle on then luckily saw an official on a Harley. I yelled at him to please help. He dismounted and then we worked on getting it on. It still wasn't easy then something crunched and I got it. He looked at my arm and said, "Dude.. you ok?" I saw the arm had ballooned to plum size but twisted it around and said. I'll be cool... Thanks! (4:30min approx.) lost in the confusion according to time... 43:24 was time from when I started riding again....

I was on way and proceeded to have a killer bike b/c I was so angry. I passed Maverick's buddy Ken on his Softride and loved it!!!
13/37 AG and 133/398 Overall

Running race (Road/Trail a little...) 29:10 [4] 7.0 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Saucony Triumph 4

Started slow on the run. Ran for 2K then took gel and water. Started to pick it up and pass a lot of people. Got into a rhythmn and ran well... Passed friend Trish on the run going home and then caught her after she twisted an ankle on the trails. Felt bad for her... Picked it up at the end knowing I'm done for the season. One blister exploded and was talking to me but, so was a lot of other parts from the crash. Finished 3rd on the run in AG although the had the fastest being a guy who came 285th running a 2:21 pace LOL!
3/37 AG and 53/398 Overall...

Note

Well, I had a good race in me. Judging by the results without the crash I would have come in around 1:28 and change and that would have been 2nd in AG and about 40th Overall... too bad so sad :(

T1: 1:19 and T2: 1:10
8/37 AG and 81/398 Overall... see ya next season!

Did an easy recovery run. No signs of pain or real hurting. Even blisters etc. weren't bad. Did 10min of Z2 up'd .5 for 10min of Z2 then 10min of Z3 and the last 15min Z2... Started at 6:15am. Weighed myself again after run and I was 153.5 (9 lbs difference) - not sure what that means...

ahr:137 max:143 slept:6.5 weight:156lbs

Woke up @ 5:30am to do a nice recovery ride in zone 2 but more like 3. My bike AT is 148 so I think I was a zone too high. Will figure this zone stuff out for next season. Oh well... watched the run of the 2006 IMC on TSN (Coach Gordo came in 3rd).

Swimming (Current Pool) 25:00 [2]
ahr:131 max:144

Swam over lunch for the first time with HR monitor. Took adjusting as the current would catch it. Ave. a lot lower then the 166 in the race Sunday? Was doing an ok pace. No adrenelin I guess :| Was swimming easier though...

Recovering from Mussleman 1/2IM and preparing for Niagara Sprint...

First of 2 1/2IM in Orillia '90 5:14:15 S-40:37/B-2:55:32/R-1:38:06
Last 1/2IM in Orillia in '93 5:31:03 S-35:54/B-2:52:45/R-2:02:29 (2nd one I was bike couriering and didn't really train at all - idiot. Swim and bike were cool although waxing legs the night b4 was a bad move in that I reacted and itched terrribly for most of the bike. Oh yeah, I didn't train in areo-postion at all bike everyday. Didn't have to right? Wrong. Got off the bike to realize that the muscles around my ribs weren't happy and breathing heavy was painful. Walked a lot of the run... )
