Biking (Spotted Horse leg 1) 6:23:30 [4] 69.5 mi (10.9 mph) +4124ft
ahr:131 max:159 rhr:44 shoes: Airborne Delta CX

Time is just riding time. Add on an hour for a stop for Jim's mechanical, waiting for him at tops of hills, and a not-hasty c-store stop.

Started the race with my brother, whose long ride this year was 20 miles. He made it 50, which was really impressive, particularly when considering the challenging route. I felt amazing when we were together, a benefit of stops and soft pedaling. He dropped at mile 52, and the rest of the leg was still pretty good.

Overall sawtooth profile. You were either climbing or descending all day. Somehow it seemed like mostly climbing.

Biking (Spotted Horse leg 2) 8:16:11 [5] 84.9 mi (10.3 mph) +6194ft
ahr:129 max:156 shoes: Airborne Delta CX

Again add an hour for stops. This leg was basically trying to make it from one stop to the next. Felt pretty good through mile 81 and then it was a lot of suffering from there out. Not super surprising since I was way outside of my typical bike ride duration once we got into the second half, but disappointing because I've ridden a lot of bike miles.

Beautiful course. Very hilly. Rode tons of awesome B roads. I think this was harder than DK.

ahr:143 max:174 rhr:48 slept:7.0 shoes: Salomon Sense Pro

I woke up this morning and felt really good, not at all like I just mountain biked for 50 miles. Jeff and Jacob were watching football all day, so I stopped at the ICCP o-meet on my way back from Steelville. Despite spending about half of the meet thinking the contour lines were gullies, I had probably my best navigational outing to date. Overall decent route choices and I did a lot of running.
