Orienteering (Turkey-O) 2:55:00 [3] 7.6 mi (23:02 / mi) +564ft 21:31 / mi
ahr:113 max:171 rhr:48 slept:6.25 shoes: Salomon Sense Pro

SLOC Turkey-O at Raging Rivers. Solo, though Jeff and Jacob also came and did the 1-hr with a friend of Jacob's and his family. :)

270 points, I think. Generally shaky nav. Only missed one CP that I went after (20), but lots of wasted time on suboptimal routes. Not a great outing, but it was an awesome day to be outside.

ahr:88 max:157 rhr:48 slept:7.25 shoes: Trek SuperFly

Mentally tough day, always feeling like this should be easier, why am I so bad at this. Riding with faster people might make you better, but it's hard to see your improvement. Rode over the Zombie rock table for the first time since doing it during the mtb clinic, that was fun.

Trail running (Big Woods) 45:02 [3] 3.1 mi (14:32 / mi)
ahr:153 max:180 rhr:47 slept:5.5 shoes: Salomon Sense Pro

Annual tri club Thanksgiving run. Annual show-up-too-late-to-run-with-anyone-else. Planning 2ish miles. First half mile was all calculating how many more times I needed to run whatever distance to be finished, and then it was fun. I should run more.

Other (Football) 31:56 [3]
ahr:85 max:110

2-hand touch. Would definitely be more fun with a little more room to move than my MIL's side yard. Filed under "duh" is the fact that smooth-soled boots are suboptimal football footwear.

Feel like I was run over by a truck. Weird. I've ridden that bike way further, for longer periods of time, on way tougher trail. Lower back is really stiff.

Mountain biking (SIUE trail 8) 1:05:54 [3] 8.7 mi (7.9 mph) +443ft
ahr:89 max:148 rhr:46 slept:6.5 shoes: Trek SuperFly

Part 1 of my Fat Cyclist 100 Miles of Nowhere attempt. Really wanted to do this on singletrack. More fun, plus the best thing about loop courses is getting more comfortable and riding the course better.

26* at start (7:30 instead of my planned 6 because of a major motivation deficit to get out of bed in our unheated house). Not a scary temp at all, but with Thursday's high being 82 I don't have my cold weather dressing down yet for the year. Bottom: Tights over shorts, 2 pr socks, regular bike shoes. Legs were fine, feet were frozen. Too bad I don't have wool socks or winter cycling boots. Oh wait...I do. Top: base layer, s/s jersey, fleece jacket, wind jacket. Way too much. Super sweaty by the end of my trail 8 laps.

I was super excited about doing this, and as soon as I started pedaling it was no fun at all. I really wanted to quit and go home and go to bed. By the end of the first 5 laps I was feeling better about things. Focused on riding pretty easy and smooth rather than fast because this loop has lots of turns -- a definite area in which I need improvement. Of course, not going for a PR every time meant that my Garmin kept reminding me how far back my time was.

Accidentally stopped/saved the first 7 laps when trying to turn off the strava segment feature before all the beeps drove me insane.
8 AM

Mountain biking (SIUE trail 8) 3:06:36 [3] 24.6 mi (7.9 mph) +1299ft
ahr:92 max:134 shoes: Trek SuperFly

Remaining laps to fill out the 33 miles I had planned here. Did 5 laps CCW, 5 laps CW, repeat. This is a really fun trail, and my riding of it did get much better. Faster around curves and downhill.
1 PM

Mountain biking (SIUE trail 3) 2:23:52 [3] 17.9 mi (7.5 mph) +1188ft
ahr:100 max:158 shoes: Trek SuperFly

After lunch/thaw my frozen feet break, switched over to trail 3. Switched base layer and jersey to dry ones, left off the fleece and topped with the jacket. Much better. Of course, it was 15* warmer out, too.

Two-mile laps instead of 1.1; that was a nice change. Failing motivation. Got through 8 laps to make it to 50 for the day and quit.

Takeaway: just because it's easy trail doesn't make it easy to keep riding it over and over, especially when no one else is locked into your stupidity. Def would have been more fun with a group all with the same goal. Mickey was there for the majority of the day, and having company was way nicer, but not the same as having other people who were all in the same boat together.
