 | Bike (MTB-O) 1:32:00 [2] | |

| Early morning. Drew a course on old phone book maps, which I thought would just be a pleasant distraction not real orienteering. Surprisingly the course turned out to be fairly interesting with route choice all along and a map lacking bike trails and new roads to add confusion. Lots of fun except when I almost ran over an old lady while looking at my map. |
 | Kicksled (lake ice) 37:00 [3] | |
| |
| While M skied and J snowshoed. On Jyväsjärvi 2.3 km track which is in great condition. Lots of happily families out on this sunny day. Skaters with poles dangling willy nilly were a bit of a hazard as always. Threw in some 200-400 meter bursts. With huge tail wind I was definitely over 35km/hr on the fast stretches. |
 | Run tempo (snow) 15:00 [3] | |

| Right after kicking, did a fast-ish dash across the lake in my cleats. Feel like I need to get in more running if I am going to have any chance of running my 10km dream time in June. But with this lovely Spring weather there are so many other ways to play outside. |
 | Run hills (snowy trails) 1:03:00 [2] | |

| PM. Dumb idea, the morning was enough. |

 | Ski (skate) 1:05:00 [3] | |

| yes! |
 | Snowshoe (jog/hike) 1:20:00 [2] | |

| Kind of a replacement for a leg strength workout. Didn't mean it to last this long but sort of hard to gauge how long it would take to do a loop through Laajavuori. Legs rubbery at the end.
If this sunny weather continues it may be time for an annual rite: the ski in shorts and t-shirt. Although not unusual among skiers in my home state it has good shock value here. Jaws drop, heads shake and some old people look really pissed off. I suppose it is the equivalent of orienteering in your speedo. |

 | Ski (classic) 1:45:00 [2] | |
| |
| Palokka to Ampujien maja and back with Erwin. Had to stop regularly to scrape the fresh snow off our skis. Slow-going but otherwise enjoyable. Again the locals seemed to be staying home. |

 | Ski (classic) 1:43:00 [2] | |
| |
| After a stressful drive back to Jyväskylä in a big snow storm, sometimes near white-out conditions. The upside when I got home was good old fashioned skiing, making our own tracks as we went. About 15-20 cm new snow. Funny that the usually crowded tracks here in a major Finnish skiing city were empty except for one American and a Flemish guy. Have the locals been spoiled by grooming machines? Well, all the better for us to have the trails to ourselves. |

 | Orienteer 1:13:00 [2] | |
| |
| Last training in Ahvenanmaa (Tranvik). More snow but maybe that is good as it erased the signs of all others who had visited the controls already. This was more like the usual stuff in Central Finland. Looked FOREVER for one control on open rock only to realise the ribbon had been knocked to the ground. Amazed on leaving to see the young Russians jogging to the same map from their lodging 8-10km away!!
This was an interesting Easter holiday. A few amazing terrains and amazing mistakes but best of all was a lot of time in the pool and on slide with Marilla! She also did a bit of "orienteering " with Mom, requiring one rescue. Ready to go home and ski on all this new snow coming.

 | Orienteer 1:10:00 [2] | |

| "iltarasti" in the morning? Other side of Daglösa. Wonderful terrain again but I mostly walked/jogged and still seemed to be way off on half the controls...Jeez must have been last, even on this easier course. This is like my first days orienteering all over again. Decided to take the evening night-O training more seriously... |

| Shoot, a little more snow. Ran harder but not much of a training when you get sucked into the paths through the snow. Still tried to do my own routes in the first few controls, with a Russian behind me, and obviously I lost time trying to take a route just because it is different not better. He picked the wrong guy to follow. After that I joined the train. |
