Running warm up/down (Sorlampi) 32:00 intensity: (16:48 @0) + (13:16 @1) + (32 @2) + (1:24 @3) 3.34 km (9:35 / km) +75m 8:37 / km
ahr:100 max:176

Trying to find the the map without a map, hence the loop.

Forest Orienteering long (Finland) 1:20:25 intensity: (1:00:50 @0) + (6:40 @1) + (12:55 @3) ***** 8.11 km (9:55 / km) +268m 8:31 / km
ahr:73 max:132

Sorlampi, Espoo 1:10,000 contours 5m, Eastern part of the map.

Wanted to just get out and see what its like. Took me the first half of the map to remember how to run straight on a bearing lol. Then I spent the other half trying to remember how to plan ahead. I sort of figured out a method that work for me which uses the compass as a major crutch that I will discuss in a blog post.

Running 14:53 [3] 1.15 km (12:55 / km) +37m 11:09 / km
ahr:44 max:57 slept:8.0

Jogging back. That was hard right after the flight.

Running 5:47 [3] 0.52 km (11:06 / km)

Sprint Orienteering (MRU) 20:12 [3] *** 4.64 km (4:21 / km) +30m 4:13 / km

First section was pretty good, couldn't think of much to change. I think my route to 14 was viable, it might have been longer, but it had less turns and navigation as opposed to right. Otherwise the rest felt good, I was only a bit tired from yesterday, and so didn't feel like I was pushing as hard.

Running 2:12 [3] 0.38 km (5:44 / km)

8 PM

Running 12:03 intensity: (22 @0) + (11:39 @1) + (2 @3) 1.56 km (7:43 / km) +8m 7:32 / km
ahr:126 max:151

Forest Orienteering (Bow Valley) 45:51 intensity: (1:53 @0) + (43:53 @1) + (5 @3) 5.01 km (9:09 / km) +198m 7:39 / km
ahr:130 max:156

Really rough. Had to stop a couple times when I was at the control location and just wanted to verify that I was actually there. If there were flags I would have seen them, but I was still quite shabby in my forest technique. Gonna be fun catching that up in the next week. I found it harder to read the map while running then what I can remember from last year, like I had to hold it closer.

Running 2:00 [3] 0.38 km (5:12 / km) +7m 4:46 / km

Sprint Orienteering (Bottomlands) 23:19 intensity: (13:19 @3) + (10:00 @4) 5.16 km (4:31 / km) +81m 4:11 / km

Relatively good, made a couple of mistakes regarding route choice, and 2 really bad ones where I mispunched twice in the same course. There were 2 very short legs (1 and 10) and I didn't see the controls when I was running, maybe because it was getting a bit dark, and the entire control circle was in a building. Otherwise I'm not sure my route to 9 was the fastest (using the GPS numbers) and there's not much point in analysis without the map, because of all of the artificial fences. It was a super good course (done by Patrick), probably harder or as hard as JWOC. I would say it was a little more technical than last year in Switzerland, and way more technical then in Bulgaria.

Running 6:41 [3] 0.86 km (7:48 / km) +4m 7:36 / km
