Missing the GPS file for this one. First loop of 4. After running it, had some good legs, but I wanted to be even straighter on my bearings.

Probably my best loop from all of them, had a few controls where my directions wasn't perfect. Need a solid plan for fixing that this week. Otherwise the navigation is really good, I can understand the terrain fairly well.

First few controls were good, but I was losing focus, and had a couple really bad exits, probably over 30 degrees off being pushed around by the terrain, and lacking a solid plan that I could follow without a compass. (That gives me an idea, I think I'll try some trainings without a compass in order to get really into the map reading. ) About halfway through the loop, I fell in a marsh and as I was beginning to run again I stomped on a small tree stump that didn't move, and bruised the bottom of my foot a bit. It should (hopefully) be better by tomorrow. Really messed up the control after that, and couldn't finish the loop.

Woke up super late, but I found everyone's (meaning Vancouver's, Kamloops, and Cranbrook's) forest maps and I will definitely be training on them next year. So now I have a total of about 18 JWOC level forest maps within a driving radius of 7 hours, and about 21 JWOC level sprint maps within Calgary and Vancouver.

Middle Distance Race at Sastamala; arrived late (what a surprise) and run the course just with my GPS watch.

Pretty happy with my run. Fairly straight lines with only 311m additional meters from completely straight. (Don't mind the disq. at the end lol nothing important, if I had a control description, wouldn't have happened).

Wanted to just get out and see what its like. Took me the first half of the map to remember how to run straight on a bearing lol. Then I spent the other half trying to remember how to plan ahead. I sort of figured out a method that work for me which uses the compass as a major crutch that I will discuss in a blog post.
