Didn’t feel like a great sleep. Woke with headache too.

Thankfully leg pain all but gone. Noticing one or two little brief spells of unsteadyness. And right foot has clipped furniture a couple of times in last couple of days

Reasonable sleep. Elaine off to Mytholmroyd sprints today. Happy for her to get O fix but must admit to a bit of jealousy.

No leg pain now and just tenderness above the ankle. Swelling all but gone. Still keeping leg raised for hours in the day

Early night and reasonable sleep - woke at 5:25

Note

Hospital phoned me (unexpectedly) as they want me in for abdomen and pelvic scan on Monday morning. Hope it’s just a thorough test of me and not something they concerned about.

reasonable sleep. Woke about five and immediately pondering things. Wiggled foot and leg. Feels better. Gets up. All fine. Pressure pain mainly subsiding.
Contented feel at last, albeit sleepy.

Less pain this morning when put foot on floor. Reasonable sleep eventually.
10.30am scan
11 AM

Note

The scan confirms presence of DVT in right leg. Two clots. Nurse (samantha) asks if had prev DVT. Not to my knowledge. Then finds a second clot.

Back down at minor injuries Specialist nurse Irene gives me two treatment options. Warfarin or Apixaban. I dont know which, so with Elaine's head movements choose Apixaban.

Two in the morning, two in evening seven days then back next Wednesday, for further assessment. Naturally I research Apixaban, which is an anticoagulant which thins the blood.

Internet reading this afternoon gives positive outlook for exercise & physical activity should the medication work as planned. Would wish to do ROC in late September but that needs close consideration.

ultrasound scan tomorrow to find out the cause of the swelling and pain. Phoned work and sent in photostat of the sick note. Alex understanding and sympathetic. Told her possible DVT
7 PM

Note

Self administration of Clexane injection. Elaine couldn’t do it

Swelling same. Phoning for docs appointment at 8.30.

Phoned in sick. Leg too painful to drive i think. Hannah understanding.

6 PM

Note

Gp seen at 3. A&E at 4.30 to check blood and rule out one or two things

5.30 at hospital. Bloods taken. Nurse thinks DVT so that will be the primary check.
Bloods returned results 7pm. DVT most probable but need scan on Wednesday to see where and how to treat. Elaine arrives. We go through the Clexane injection issues. One done there at 7.30 then a self administered one by me 7pm tomorrow.
