Mountain Bike 1:20:39 intensity: (3:47 @0) + (52:22 @1) + (14:59 @2) + (9:31 @3) 4.56 mi (3.4 mph) +669ft
ahr:128 max:161

Flatted at 2.5 miles and pulled a claw out of my tire. These tires are SUPER tight and super hard to get back on. We broke 2 tire levers in the process, leaving the only option of carrying the bike back. At least it was only 2.5 miles, but we need to work on tire changing or better levers or different tires or stretch these ones out a bit or something (?) !! I’ve changed a tire before many times on my old bike, so I know what to do, but this one was just so tight! Ugh! I feel like a mountain biking failure, but got good AR practice for bike carrying. Trav kindly alternated carrying it with me and riding his bike.

Edit: apparently, the trick is to get both sides of the bead into the middle of the tire into the "well" in the middle of the rim. Good lesson to learn not on a race day.

Edit part 2: the tires were almost glued to the sides of the rim, but using the tip above I was able to get the tire on without any tire irons, but in the effort to muscle the tire on in the first place, we apparently damaged the new tube. D'oh!
