Orienteering race 36:00 [5] 4.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

British Middle. Body was s bit achey (especially arch) overnight but didn’t actually bother me too much during race. Started off ok through quarry controls (they were very close together so no real time to make a plan or have attack point... mainly just ran in right direction and figured it out in circle/saw kite) then tried to go faster in the open bit. Legs felt tired (especially on the uphills) but did ok until I completely missed no.23. I actually ran to a completely different control and punched it then ran back to it as was sure it was mine but had wrong code... yep definitely wrong code as hadn’t actually crossed the wall and was still in the same field as no.22. This was a silly mistake, but then when I went through gate to correct field I still missed the control, went to a stream and had to correct myself back up the hill. This actually ended up costing me the win (although I’m sure other people mad mistakes too). Quite frustrating although in reality I am usually quite far behind Sarah, Heather and Rachael (I think they may have run in the mist too!?) so it’s actually a good result for me. I’ve realised I can’t just turn up and hope for the best, need to practice and prepare properly to take the need for luck out of it.

Orienteering race 15:00 [5] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Sprint qualifier. Navigated quite well and concentrated throughout so pleased. I felt I had no speed though and was quite tired by the end even though it was only short.

Orienteering race 15:00 [5] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Sprint final. Struggled to get a flow going, it all felt quite rushed and couldn’t see the map clearly (out of sprint practice?) lost concentration on one of the simpler legs (I looked up whilst running along a long straight path to see if I could see anyone ahead) and ran straight past my no.7. It took me a while to realise and race slightly fell apart after that, (although hadn’t really been very in control beforehand either?) ran on wrong side of hedge on 8 and wrong route choices to a few other including last control. Was a bit disappointed with my performance so didn’t deserve the win.

Circuits 45:00 [3]

Very achey today and Oliver got bitten by another child during the class, which was a bit disastrous! No real damage done, so should still be ok for his modelling career.
