12 PM

Cycling 26:00 [3]

Cycling into and out of Waitarere Forest. First time the MTB has been used for a while.
1 PM

Orienteering 2:06:57 [1] 13.0 km (9:46 / km)
shoes: Innov8

Recceing at Waitarere as a first step towards planning courses for QB. Very stop start, although roughly following a potential course (multiday length rather than middle distance). Some very tough terrain that I know now not to put the courses into (and some that they won't escape).

Fairly warm day and ended up fairly knackered.

Running 21:02 [2] 4.0 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 31

Along the riverbank and back from the car park by the bridge while Oli was doing a bike time trial. Not quite as far as TMP.

Only 3 hours after getting off the plane, so taking it very gently and feeling pretty average.

Running 33:57 [2] 6.0 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Pegasus 30 Blue

Short loop of parks via HB - just beyond Highcliffe Rd - Bingham Park

Feeling slightly better than yesterday but still pretty bad, so took it very gently (but probably couldn't have done much else). Legs still very tired on the hills. Would have rested again if I wasn't about to spend over 24 hours on planes or it hadn't (at last) been such a nice day to be out and about.

Seem to have missed out on a lot of the usual runs on this trip. Was going to run the crags today if I'd been feeling OK, and also no visit to Rivelin or Eccy Woods. And no chance to run with Dark Peak either. Hopefully next time.

Note

Back in Sheffield, not feeling good.

Tuesday May 3, 2016 #

Running 57:38 [3] 10.0 km (5:46 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Pegasus 30 Blue

At Killahally Wood. Did a loop that involved most of the dead ends to get distance. Obviously haven't been there for several years as the replanted trees are much more mature than I remember - may not be too long before it could be used for orienteering again though still quite a bit of bramble.

Fairly gentle as tired and not feeling great. Quite a bad cough, probably from mildew, and cold-like symptoms. Got worse later in the day.

Orienteering race 35:29 [4] 5.0 km (7:06 / km)
ahr:144 max:158 shoes: VJ Falcon

IOC Relay - The Towers - long Handicap 6 course - 4.8Km 220m

Quite weird orienteering somewhere so familiar that I never thought would be used for orienteering.

Fairly solid run. Only lost time at 2 (30s?) which was int the wrong place, and getting stuck in vegetation 15-16. Alone all the way until spotting the guy who started just behind me just in front at the end. Frustrating as there wasn't time to do anything about it - he'd run the medium course while I'd done the long.

Physically fairly tired, but coped OK.
