Orienteering race 16:38 [4] 4.0 km (4:10 / km)
(injured) shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

Bathurst 3-day 2. Sprint.

Not really up for this. SI sore, and generally achey so wasn't moving too quickly or easily. One careless 30 second mistake where I hadn't seen a leg (13-14) on the map. Biggest mistake was not owning an SI-Air card as there were 28 controls and runners with SI-Air were clearly saving a lot of time. Maybe nearly a minute on the whole course including controls where people were able to reach through fences to punch, where you couldn't quite reach with a normal SI card.

Orienteering 50:26 [3] 8.0 km (6:18 / km)
(injured) shoes: VJ Falcon

Bathurst 3-days, day 1. Same course as Senior Boys Schools Champs - 7.2Km 250m

Very typically Australian. Vague spur gully with rocks and lots of eucalypt branches so that the forest was slower and tougher than it looked. Felt slow to start with and got worse. A real struggle towards the end and was very tired afterwards. Orienteering very loose early on. Lost time on 1,2,6,7,13 - probably 2 mins in total.

Orienteering 27:17 [3] 4.5 km (6:04 / km)
(injured) shoes: VJ Falcon

Australian Champs Middle - Hill End

Really fun course in gold mining terrain. Hardly any chance to relax. Good run in terms of finding controls, but not familiar enough with the terrain to pick this lines. Probably lost 45 sec 3-4 stuck in green stuff, plus a few other small time losses in greenish bits / steep gullies.

Running OK, but definitely not at peak fitness.

Orienteering race 14:56 [4] 3.4 km (4:24 / km)
(injured) shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

Australian Champs Sprint - Bathurst - M50

Fiddly course with lots of difficult to read traps. Made a lot more awkward by having left my glasses behind. Lost 15 sec 2-3 through not spotting a very thin strip of olive green. Also lost time on 4 and 5 through not being able to read detail. Nearly missed 12 as it was so close to 11. A couple of poor routes too.

Physically not too bad though was tiring in the last 2-3 mins due to the unexpected heat. Injuries not a problem.

Orienteering 26:15 [4] 5.21 km (5:02 / km)
ahr:146 max:167 (injured) shoes: Nike Air Pegasus 30 Blue

4 sprint intervals in Thorndon.
Tricky and good fun, but light fading towards the end made map reading difficult. Various building works added randomness from time to time.

Felt good - no sign of injuries.

Not sure I've had a "genuine" heart rate reading as high as 167 before. Greg T's fault for turning one of the intervals into a real race!

Note

Golf at Boulcott Farm. Ambrose competition with Kevin D., Pat S and Honi. Bit of a mixture. Driving fell apart, but contributed quite a lot of other shots. No idea where we finished as I had to rush for the plane ...
