Orienteering race 1:32:42 [4] 15.6 km (5:57 / km)
ahr:148 max:163 (injured) shoes: VJ Falcon 2

My last ever M21E long distance race. The previous one was at QB a couple of years back and it was a real struggle with glasses in damp humid conditions. Had never really thought about it being the last one, so when I saw that this race wasn't too long, decided to make it definitively the last one ever...

Wellington Champs - M21E - Fusilier - 13.8Km

Fairly warm conditions which was a bit of a struggle - had a decent long drink at each drinks control.

Pretty good run really. Lost 45 sec at 5, just not reading the detail correctly. 15 sec at 10, 15 sec at 13, 15 sec at 20.

Also got caught by Florian Schneider at 14 and decided to just follow him to 15. Whereupon he went wrong and we both lost 30-40 seconds. I was also left in oxygen debt and getting to 16 was a real struggle (that was where the heart rate spike was!)

Felt tired towards the end as expected, and wimped out a bit with some track routes, but actually coped OK physically - didn't try to push too hard.

Reasonably happy to only be 19 mins down on someone who was 5th and 7th in World Cup races only a few weeks ago.

So, never again. But maybe there's a Sprint and Middle left in me somewhere.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [1] 7.0 km (12:51 / km)
(injured) shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212

Checking controls for the middle distance at Maungatukutuku.
Really nice being out there at 8:30am.
10 AM

Orienteering 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
(injured) shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

Followed up by checking all but one of the controls for the Sprint. Had to hurry a bit to get them all done in time.

Cricket 1:20:00 [2]
(injured)

Dashed back to play the second day of the 2-dayer vs Easts. We were so far behind we just had to bat all day. Not back in time for the start so ended up going in at 6 and managed to stick around for quite a while. 31 runs.

Running 54:49 [3] 9.5 km (5:46 / km) +353m 4:52 / km
ahr:132 max:152 (injured) shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

The longer Cannon Point loop CW.

Took a little while to realise that I was basically feeling pretty good and could push on a bit. Weather getting quite warm now.

Have found the heart rate monitor strap at last.

Nets at Fraser.

Orienteering 36:16 [3] 5.0 km (7:15 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon

WOC training - Mt Vic - 3.4Km 240m

Standard course but with a maze at the end. Good fun though frustrating at times. Got badly caught up in bush approaching 3 - the paths are out of date (-2 mins). Spent a while hunting for 11 (-2 mins)

Felt pretty good otherwise. New shoes fine, and quite useful!

Running 1:02:16 [3] 10.0 km (6:14 / km)
(injured) shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

From riverbank car park back via Silverstream Retreat and then the long parts of the extended Avro-Avian loop.

First 30 minutes with Kieran. First 15 minutes quite hard work - he's got a lot fitter. But then, predictably, he began to fade.

Never feeling that great, though no problems injury-wise.
