Orienteering 30:21 [3] 3.46 km (8:46 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212

Scotts Ferry. Not in a state to do the training properly today - arm hurting every time it was jarred at all, and can't use any strength at all. Eventually did part of the training. Walked about 2Km north and then did the control picking and map memory as they were both in very clear forest with little chance of damage. Ran very slowly and detoured around obstacles. Not concentrating for first couple of controls, but generally very accurate after that. Arm still hurt rather more at the end than at the start, despite protecting it as much as possible.

Orienteering 38:59 [3] 3.99 km (9:46 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212

Wellington training w/e - Osgiliath. Shadowing Stuart Engleback through control picking and line. Good to be back in terrain, but a little rusty.
3 PM

Orienteering 57:13 [3] 6.29 km (9:06 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212

Normal course, solo, back to the cars. Still rusty, and not great physically because I hadn't had enough to drink beforehand (but was able to stop and drink before the last loop). Spent a long time trying to work out the map around number 2, but came to the eventual conclusion that the area near the coast had just changed too much to be sure of anything.

However, this exercise overshadowed by running into something in the low-vis stuff on the way to 1. Hurt a lot at the time and distracted me round the rest of the course. Ultimately swelling and pain led to a hospital visit, and just before midnight a large piece of wood was extracted from my arm. Not too painful until about 3am when the local anesthetic wore off. Not much sleep thereafter.

Cricket 1:30:00 [1]

Nets at Fraser. A bit better this week, but possibly not batting as well as the guy in the next door net. Not every day you get such a direct comparison with an England test player!

Running 1:02:17 [3] 11.0 km (5:40 / km) +396m 4:48 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 33 Blue

BMR - Tapestry - Guildford Spur (but took the small track from just before the water tank) - Avro
Better tempo than expected - no after effects from yesterday.
Garmin struggled again.

Running race 19:32 [4] 5.0 km (3:54 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 33 Blue

Trentham Harriers 5Km
Long enough since my last 5K to have forgotten how much it hurts! Difficult to compare with previous times as the course has now changed and is now slower - now more gravel and a lot more tight turns, but probably quite good to only be 4s slower than 2 years ago.
7 PM

Running 16:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 33 Blue

Warm up / down.

Running 45:10 [3] 7.9 km (5:43 / km) +340m 4:42 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

The medium Avian-Avro loop with a run to the end of the vehicle track that heads down towards Pinehaven Rd tacked on.
Legs feeling pretty good, but not putting too much effort in as might be doing a race tomorrow.
