Sunday Aug 18 #

11 AM

Orienteering race 58:41 [4] 7.0 km (8:23 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon

Score Event at Catchpool. Tried to run reasonably hard as so few chances to orienteer at the moment. Pretty good apart from losing maybe 5 mins going from 70 to 71 where I ended up on the track at the top. Collecting controls afterwards confirmed that 70 was probably 5 contours too high, so it wasn't a surprise that I ended up at the wrong level after leaving it!. Probably couldn't quite have got them all without that mistake, but it meant I had to miss the 2 right down at the south end.

Orienteering 25:00 [2] 3.0 km (8:20 / km)

Collecting the awkward controls!

Saturday Aug 17 #

Running 1:42:14 [3] 17.0 km (6:01 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Pegasus 30 Blue

From Totara Park up the zigzag track, the bigger loop in the hills behind CW, back down zigzag track. Limited time so kept up a decent pace and cut the corner at the far end as the steep shortcut is now more accessible. Weather turned pretty awful and legs ended up getting fairly numb - maybe that helped as I wasn't feeling much pain!

Friday Aug 16 #

Running 35:57 [3] 6.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212

From Silverstream Bridge around KGMP and back using the Harriers trail race route. Surprised how good I felt after last night. Obviously not pushing but only just slightly tired on some of the climbs.

Thursday Aug 15 #

Rogaine race 2:58:37 [3] 22.0 km (8:07 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

From Kelburn Park around Tinakori and Polhill with Caspar.
Physically pretty good though left calf a bit sore during the first half. Caspar struggled a bit towards the end so we were a bit conservative, but in any case, picked the wrong route back from the far end of Polhill, so didn't quite win this one.

Tuesday Aug 13 #

Cycling 1:02:06 [3] 25.31 km (2:27 / km)

The Whitemans Valley Loop ACW. Bit of a struggle at times with a strong NW wind. Physically not too bad.

Monday Aug 12 #

Running 58:36 [5] 10.0 km (5:52 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 33 Blue

Hills 2-4, 2-4-2 on the forest road beyond the top of Avro.
Thought this would be hard after yesterday, but actually coped reasonably well and managed to put a decent level of effort in. Short efforts 40-45s, longer ones about 1-30.
