Orienteering race 1:03:17 [4] 9.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

OY/CSW - QEP
Failed to enjoy in thel ways I always fail to enjoy QEP. Too many fences, too much randomness with vegetation, too much dead running. Legs also feeling pretty dead which didn't help. Scrappy technically, but mostly not my fault :
1-2 -15s. Control was pretty much on top of the hill, not on the north side as it should have been.
3-4 -15s. Very hesitant - control more than one contour from the bottom of the big depression.
6-7 -45s. Control seemed to be between second and third hills when there were only 2 on the map!
8-9 -30s Read the control as being on the fence - couldn't see that there was a vegetation change just inside the fence. Zooming in on RouteGadget I can see it now, but the map is not correct.
12-13 -1:30. Trying to find a way to get across a fence with all 5 wires electrified. Went a long way out of my way.
19-20 -20s. Control on the side of the hill, nit on the spur. Grrrrr!

From the splits it's clear that I lose a lot of time on the legs with more fence crossings :

Note

Golf at RW - very poor - 106 (25 points) but a few very good holes meshing perfectly with my partner's bad ones - we won 6&5.

Cycling 1:42:01 [3]

BMR - Wallaceville Hill - Te Marua - Mangaroa Hill - back up the valley
Not working today so had time for a longer ride, though had to wait until the roads had dried out a bit. Decent tempo throughout - possibly a bit on the hard side as I didn't have much energy towards the end. Heel a bit sore today, but OK on the bike.

Running 55:27 [3] 9.38 km (5:55 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 35

The longer Cannon Point loop from Totara Park ACW.
Didn't want to run again this week but situation pretty much forced it.
New shoes, though have been wearing them in for a while, They seem to be pretty good. Heels survived, though just don't feel like I can really open up on some of the potentially faster bits. Would have liked to be able to today as I was feeling full of energy.

Wednesday Sep 16 #

Cycling 57:40 [3] 25.31 km (2:17 / km)

The Whitemans Valley loop CW
Quite windy and it felt like a bit of a slog, but kept at it. Heels have been a bit tender after the Tuesday evening run, but, as usual, no problem cycling and they seem to be recovering reasonably.

Monday Sep 14 #

Running 1:11:35 [3] 12.0 km (5:58 / km)
shoes: Air Pegasus 30 Darker blue

Had to take Oli to NHS for an evening match so ran from there with a headlight.
Random route from there to the area of bush to the West using a rogaine map, but there had been some new trail building and the map was out of date so just followed my nose for a bit and ended up taking a 25 minute detour, partly off the south end of the map.
Heel pretty much the same. Sore at times, particularly on harder surfaces, but not really worse than it's been or a while and pretty much the same afterwards as before. Enjoying the running.
