Orienteering race 50:00 [4] 7.0 km (7:09 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon

CSW #1 Belmont Bunkers 5.7Km 350m
Usual physical easy stuff with too many fences. No mistake but lost about 1.15 between 10 and 11 when someone just in front of me got a nasty shock from an electric fence - took me a while to work out where to get across it.

Results don't show Senior Boys (Nicholas Green 48.52)

Note

Golf at RW with Alan +2
97 (34 points). Reasonable. Drove well, poor irons, solid with the putter. Course now softer and playing longer.

Cycling 1:18:43 [3]

The longer Whitemans Valley loop ACW.
Didn't push too hard as I was still feeling quite tired. Not too bad in the end though. Obviously slow, but not quite as slow as the time suggests - there was a detour round the industrial estate next to the golf course.

Running 49:03 [3] 11.0 km (4:28 / km)
shoes: Air Pegasus 30 Darker blue

Harriers - the Riverstone loop ACW, but a bit longer now that it's too dark to use the river bank.
As expected, legs fairly tired, particularly for the first uphill stretch. But got a bit better as we got further on.

Rogaine race 2:55:43 [3] 17.0 km (10:20 / km) +1050m 7:54 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Rogaine based at Wilton around the bottom part of Otari-Wilton bush plus Tinakori, with Josh and a couple of his running mates (Joe only joined us an hour in).
Quite a technical rogaine with Tinakori being fairly awkward, but think we did reasonably. I was doing all the navigating and leaving the others to do most of the answer finding and writing as they were all faster than me. A couple of minor mistakes both due to missing minor tracks : ended up going round to get into 81, then ended up going 71-23-60-91 rather than the intended 71-60-23-91. Also, very frustratingly, spent about 5 mins searching for 90, our second control and never found it. Not a suitable control when the description is just "NE of river 15m" when the area is a steep slope covered in native bush and we're just looking for a small ribbon of (at that stage) unknown size and colour. Also wasted about 5 mins trying to find the answer at 80 - think there was probably a sign that had been removed. As a result, missed out on a few points at the end.
Tried to be fairly conservative physically, and was still feeling reasonable at the end.

Cycling 57:22 [3] 25.31 km (2:16 / km)

The Whitemans Valley Loop CW
A bit grim - slight drizzle when I started, proceeding to steady rain by the time I finished, and into the wind for an unpleasant last 5 minutes.
Still, was feeling pretty good otherwise.
