Orienteering race 51:08 [4] 7.0 km (7:18 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon

QB "long" - Woodend - M50 - 5.6Km
Yet another poor run in Christchurch dunes. Lost about 45s at 3 but then clean until making the stupid decision to run along the beachside track 13-14 on the assumption that since the control was 5m from the track, I'd see it. No chance. The track was overgrown and in a gully which wasn't obvious on the map - no chance of seeing any adjacent features. Had tp get back into the forest to relocate and got it wrong the first time (unsurprisingly given the mapping). About 4.5 mins binned, and then struggled for the remaining controls losing another 1.5 mins at 16 paying too much attention to vegetation.

Struggling a bit physically as well - usual problem with not doing any real terrain running.

12 PM

Orienteering race 10:52 [4] 2.5 km (4:21 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 35

QB Sprint - Canterbury University - 50 - 2.4Km
A bit more interesting than I was expecting, but nothing too hard. Controlled race. A couple of minor hesitations but generally fairly clean. Not feeling at my best physically.
6 PM

Orienteering race 10:43 [3] 2.4 km (4:28 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 35

QB Night Sprint Relay
Imaginative event in a very small area. Good fun. Not in a competitive team, so didn't run flat out, but still probably ran a bit harder than intended thanks to other people. A bit hesitant from 5 to 7 where I was struggling to read the map, but otherwise fine. A lot of people taking illegal shortcuts.

Thursday Jun 3 #

Running 59:00 [3] 12.0 km (4:55 / km)
shoes: Air Pegasus 30 Darker blue

Harriers - The tip track route ACW with headlamps. I was the only one who went back to the river at the end.
Feeling good but trying to hold myself back given the races this weekend. In general though a less intense run than many anyway.

Wednesday Jun 2 #

Cycling 57:29 [3] 25.31 km (2:16 / km)

The Whitemans Valley loop CW
Good conditions and went fairly hard, though legs a bit on the tired side.

Tuesday Jun 1 #

Running 1:04:23 [3] 10.0 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Air Pegasus 30 Darker blue

From Silverstream Bridge up the N track through KGMP then loop of the top of St Pats Forest and down the track to the S. entrance to the forest.
One of those days where I just felt really good. Even the climb at the start didn't feel too bad.

Monday May 31 #

Third Monday in a row the weather's been too bad to even consider going for a walk. So plenty of heel raises / calf stretches.
