Easy walk with Nancy up to Rainbow Lake via a clockwise loop, then to town on 2nd Ave and to the museum. Very busy trails: lots of families with kids and dogs, mt bikers, fast-walkers immersed in hefty discussions. There was some commotion about a moose sighting or something of that sort. We did not quite hear clearly, but just went our way taking a left towards the Miner's Creek road. Otherwise no adventurous sightings, but gorgeous flowers everywhere including columbines in a variety of colors.

After the museum visit and a hearty lunch at the deli, there were intermittent showers but nothing really substantial. So afterwards I ventured out for a shorter run than yesterday with less climb, just in case the showers would become serious storms, which did not happen.

From Meadowcreek trailhead to Lily Pad Lake which was a moderate climb. I felt good so I continued to the Ryan Gulch/Buffalo Ridge trail head near the radio tower. Then I returned, as the clouds did move in and the temps dropped considerably and some thunder was rumbling in the distance. Very comfortable run back, and by the time I arrived at the parking, the sun was out again. Typically CO.

Quite a few hikers on the trails. All very friendly.
