Orienteering race 1:35:00 [3] 5.8 km (16:23 / km)

5.8 K Red Course at Beaver Brook. Started slow without warm-up. Felt yesterday's run. J.J. caught up with me on 2, then I led into 3 but then I bobbled 4, and never saw J.J. again. Major trouble at 8. I can never relocate in this area - happened before. The terrain is too subtle and not exactly reproduced by the map which is very hard to read in this area. Had to bail out W to trail, then go north a bit and attack from marsh, which worked . Lost ~ 20 minutes GRR. Rest was ok, but still had some problem near the controls here and there. Contours are confusing in places.
Inspite of it all, the woods were enjoyable for the most part. Not sure I would say the same thing say in May (green, thick, buggy etc).

Easy- pace trail run with Jess and Co (Jess, Tony and I doing the long run, Heather, Jen, and Troy doing the shorter one). From Isinglass trails to Barndoor Gap up to the ledges. Short stop enjoying awesome views. Sunny and clear between 35 and 45 F. No wind. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Trail running 1:00:00 [3] 5.5 mi (10:55 / mi) +50m 10:37 / mi
shoes: New Balance Minimus

Two loop run, 1st 25 min w. Jena incl. strides and leg lifts- via Emeritus to CW trail , then second loop 35 min down to the W. Foss Farm Shelter and back via Troy's field. Last 15 minutes in the dark, but clear sky helped make footing visible enough. Arrived home at exactly at 5 pm. Felt heavy at the beginning, after a day's work on the computer, but eventually loosened up and finished at a good tempo.

Trail running 45:00 [3] 4.0 mi (11:15 / mi) +100m 10:26 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 101

First "serious' run in a while around Spruce Hole. First a loop with Jena, incl. a lot of striding to give her enough time/enjoyment for sniffing. Then second loop solo with two hill sprints and accelerated pace.

Trail running 18:00 [3] 2.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Joggeroo w Jena around Clyde's trails. Encounter with another very friendly dog owner. Stopped and chatted but J and other dog started to snap at each other. So parted and tried to avoid each other.
3 PM

Rollerskiing 25:00 [2] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Nieflheim Skate

First skate-roller ski this season. Just a nice warm-up around the block (Packers F. & Wednesday Hill Rds). Hopefully I'll get in the habit....
