Skate Skiing 1:55:00 [2] 15.0 mi (7:40 / mi) +600m 6:49 / mi

Stopped in at Jackson on my way home. About 40F, incredibly nice sugar snow, Skied up Ellis to Hall, the Maple loop, and back, and out the Ellis which they had groomed to the top of the middle hill, so some good climb at the end as well.

Skate Skiing 2:20:00 [2] 20.0 mi (7:00 / mi) +500m 6:30 / mi
shoes: Rossi Xium Skate

I went up to Rangeley anyway in spite ot the Loppet having been cancelled Thursday night. Cold but sunny and not too windy day. Distance is estimated (did not feel like fiddelling with my Garmin). Various Loppet suspects encountered in the Yurt, and some on the trails. (C Walker, etc. Sugar snow, super fast, just flying with moderate effort. Trails had "pot holes" in numerous places (Groomer had grabbed the surface snow which had not set enough and made the underlying terrifiying looking icecrust showing), but was no problem for recreational skiing. Conditions were quite sweet.

Skate Skiing 1:25:00 [2] 11.0 mi (7:44 / mi) +400m 6:57 / mi
shoes: Rossi Xium Skate

Then another go in the afternoon. It seem to get warmer which made the glide more quiet. Stopped a few times encountering CW and Nancy K, and had to chat, of course. Met Alex and Jess at the parking lot just as I was coming in. Nice surprise! Afterwards I was incredibly hungry. (1 chili for lunch did not cut it for me). So went straight t the Forks bistro for a full 3-course meal with craft beer. Jess and Alex just entered as I was spooning my desert, so I stayed on for another hour of nice conversation.

Rollerskiing 1:00:00 [2] 5.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: Nieflheim Skate

Gentle skate in the midday sun (30F). Just tried to get my arms and legs primed for Rangeley. Practiced smooth V2, a bit of double poling on the ups, then without poles on flats and downs. Surrey 3 times, then Wednesday Hill all the way up the hill, then back, around Toon Lane, and home. Smooth pavement except for the first 5 minutes on Packers Falls Road which is in very bad shape.

Trail running 35:00 [2] 2.8 mi (12:30 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Running around Spruce Hole after a long day at work. It was just getting dark so took my mini headlamp. A brisk 26 F with lots of wind. So I stayed in the woods, avoiding the fields. Just looping around, clearing my head, getting refreshed - I id a couple of hill tempo runs, but nothing too aggressive.

Rollerskiing 35:00 [3] 3.0 mi (11:40 / mi)
shoes: Nieflheim Skate

Looping around Surrey Lane on skaters. Dbl poling uphills and no-poles on flats and downs. 4 times, then around the block (Wednesday Hill Rd to Jenkins Rd). Good workout. Arms are definitely stronger than they were in October. Hope to keep in shape for Rangeley 50k this Saturday.
5 PM

Trail running 15:00 [2] 0.8 mi (18:45 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Then cool-sown with Jena around Clyde's.

Trail running 25:00 [2] 2.8 mi (8:56 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Run to work through College Woods. Somebody had built an igloo 2 m across and 1.5m high smack in the middle of the trail. Weird appearance, and still entirely intact. Had to circle around it to avoid the ice sheet that had been forming around it.
5 PM

Trail running 28:00 [2] 3.0 mi (9:20 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Then home from work. Added hill loop.
