Note
(injured)

Back got worse while I was bending over this morning. Now even jogging hurts. Will need a break from running to get this healed.

Road Running 21:00 [2] 2.6 mi (8:05 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Run to work via road and water works trail cut-off. The new gravely shoulder is very soft, so quite pleasant to run mid morning with virtually no traffic. My lower back has been sore from yard working for a week now and it does not seem to be healing. A bit of a concern and a nuisance as well.
I got a ride home in the evening after Sylas's concert at the theater.

Road Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101 sz 9

Run from Durham V garage to work in the morning, and then back to pick up car from service. Planned to do an evening run afterwards, but it is raining and I was hungry, so bagged the idea.

Trail running 33:00 [2] 3.0 mi (11:00 / mi) +40m 10:34 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Run home in the dark. Ski route. Slow going in places due to leaves obscuring roots etc. My headlamp (marmot mini) 's brightness is on the minimal side - may want to use the stronger one next time.

Road Running race 1:29:34 [4] 13.1 mi (6:50 / mi)
shoes: Newton MV3

Harborside Half in Newburyport. Decided at the last minute to sign up - figured I'd try something new. Nice course with some rolling hills , typical coastal with some salt marshes to cross. Some open spots with tended to have head winds - never know where the wind comes from along the coast. My GPS watch was busted and I don't have a watch, so just ran by feeling as in the good old times. Very thin participation (another half happening in Portsmouth), so I quickly settled into about 10th place. Had an older guy in front who seemed strong but with an inefficient gate - then a tall younger guy who quickly pulled ahead, but then I kept at about 100 meters behind him for the rest of the race. As usual it started to get harder after about mile 5, but still was able to "smoke" the hills. There were short waves of fatigue and recovery, but all in all I seemed to be able to maintain a fairly even pace to the end, probably due to my running of a marathon 3 weeks ago. Time was my usual, although I was hoping for a 1:27 ish. My main goal was not to trash my body. Ended up being just slightly sore (calves and uppers), which is good - thinking ahead to the traverse. I was in 9th place overall, and won 60-69 with 20 minutes to spare.
