Snow Shoveling/Moving 45:00 [1]

Pet walk, wood stack, greenhouse, compost, laundry line, and then the cars.

Classic Skiing 1:10:00 [2] 3.5 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: Karhu BC Tele Skis

Ok, I managed to ski on and off for 3.5 weeks without every touching wax at all. But now that we did have a real snow storm, it required me dig into my Nordic paraphernalia box. Temps had just climbed to near freezing, which means ideal for caking. Luckily by tele skis which I need for laying tracks when there is more than 4 inches of fresh snow, were reasonably clean. So, 3 minute kick layers of VR50 plus some rub-in awful smelling glide stuff did the trick: Just an occasional bit of caking that was easy to shake off. Otherwise extremely pleasant. Under the trees there was not much new snow, hence fast gliding. The rain episode in the beginning consolidated the snow at the bottom, so not too deep in the open either. But all the litte veg stuff was covered up.
Layed a continuous path around Spruce Hole avoiding for the most part the established trails. Also carved 3 sets of tele-turns down the former sandpit. Fun! Absolutely gorgeous morning.

Classic Skiing 30:00 [1] 1.6 mi (18:45 / mi)
shoes: Atomic NX Waxless

Skiing in the rain! The announced blizzard turn into a washout for now. So waited for a while, hoping it would stop, but na!, so, just went, first with Jena for her pre-dinner loop, then back out to deliver the monthly bill. Neil (+ perhaps Jenny) had made nice tracks in the new snow, but with all the water I just pushed through to near ground. Also got soaking wet in the process.
Addendum: During dinner time and afterward, we got 7 inches of heavy wet snow in less than 3 hours. yeah! Relief!

Classic Skiing 45:00 [2] 3.5 mi (12:51 / mi) +40m 12:25 / mi
shoes: Atomic NX Waxless

Skiing on the last couple inches of snow. Lots of vege stubbles poking out, but almost all of the trails are still connected, so moderately enjoyable. I did forgo the hill schuss fearing death cookies, made some new tracks to avoid ice patches, which was quite enjoyable. Let the snow come down tomorrow...

Road Running 20:00 [2] 2.8 mi (7:09 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Road

Melt-down day. 50F and blustery wind - snow in fields is fading away by the minute, grrr. Decided against skiing in order not to ruin what's left of the tracks. So a good excuse to run to work where I had a meeting with student M.

Road Running 35:00 [3] 3.7 mi (9:28 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Road

Running home and then with J a loop over Clyde's. Overall felt a bit rusty for about 10 minutes, but then settled right into a typical pace, with a hint of pushing the hills. Encountered the neighbor twins on their way out. They look strong.

Classic Skiing 1:10:00 [2] 4.0 mi (17:30 / mi)
shoes: Atomic NX Waxless

First 25 minuts out with Jena and Nancy over at Spruce Hole. Conditions are not that great anymore, with icing progressing in many places. Best places are still the logging rides where nobody else but me has been going through. Then solo looping around. We do need more snow soon.

Classic Skiing 35:00 [1] 1.8 mi (19:27 / mi)

X mas morning ski with Jena. Goal was to tire her out a bit so that we can go to visit family without her and not feeling to guilty. Tracks moderately icy.
