Skate Skiing 40:00 [2] 3.63 mi (11:01 / mi) +25m 10:47 / mi
shoes: Fisher Revolutions

Same as last night, but in bright daylight. Just around freezing - a bit crusty still in the shade, but very nicely softening up in the sun. Quite a few places where I had to step over leaves and branches - it seemed more annoying now that I could clearly see all that stuff. Whenever I skied it was mostly V1 or double poling. Too rickedy to be able to do V2. At least it is a bit of a training.
Wish I had more time so I could go up north.

Had the urge to go out and try whatever is left of the snow at Spruce Hole. Celebrating the lunar New Year, which meant no moon, pretty dark, but stars were out. I took 2 headlamps both with lightly charged batteries. Lots of patchiness but was able to find connecting strips. A lot of dancing around the saplings which is fun for the most part. Surprised that I lasted that long. Nicely softened crust.

Skate Skiing 36:00 [2] 4.53 mi (7:57 / mi) +15m 7:52 / mi
shoes: Atomic Skate RS9

Repeat of yesterday, but now the sunny sides turning to slush (40 degrees?) - should have come at 10 am when the clouds were still out. Still fast though along the edge of College Woods which remained in the shade. Definitely more arm work in these conditions, plus my skis do not have wax for warm temps. Good training though.

Skate Skiing 26:40 [3] 3.6 mi (7:24 / mi) +15m 7:19 / mi
shoes: Atomic Skate RS9

I tried the UNH athletic fields for skate skiing . Temps dropped rapidly below freezing - hard crusty surface - super fast - too fast for even V2 in places so just moved without poles, visualizing speed skaters. Fun outing before dinner.

Classic Skiing 1:04:50 [2] 5.12 mi (12:40 / mi) +65m 12:11 / mi
shoes: Karhu BC Tele Skis

Tried the Spruce Hole trails. Snow pack has shrunk overall by 1 - 2 inches due to a full day of rain. A few small almost bare patches to glide over, otherwise still quite good. Granular fast snow reasonably packed with temps just going below freezing. Managed to get an hour in. Not many more days that I can do that, given the weather forecast of this week.
