Skate Skiing 1:26:44 [3] 11.02 mi (7:52 / mi) +42m 7:47 / mi
shoes: Atomic Skate RS9

Finally skate skiing locally. It has been a while - I think the Dreher's snowmobile has been in the shop for 2 years. They groomed about 2.5 miles on fields and river, including the steep farm-hill loop. It was a glorious day (28F, sunny, blue sky) and I simply couldn't stop. After 2 loops I explored the river all the way to Newmarket; alternating double poling in a SM track and V2 ing in places where the snow cover was nice and thin. It varied greatly!
After 33 years of skate skiing I am still working on technique: Explored better balance on V2 by more vigorously pushing my arms back - works! Saw Anne, Wheeler, and Wally, but they were just about finished when I started.

Road Running 36:04 [4] 5.01 mi (7:12 / mi) +115m 6:43 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

Another morning run in Durham, to avoid waiting for Nancy's PT to be over.
Sunny and cold, yet not unbearably windy.
4 PM

Classic Skiing 38:15 [2] 3.01 mi (12:42 / mi) +41m 12:12 / mi
shoes: Atomic NX Waxless

Short Classic Ski around SH before dinner
Tracks are at their best! Hard packed, dry, fast (even on no-wax skis), no ice. Did about 30% double poling.

XC Skiing 1:26:58 [2] 5.82 mi (14:57 / mi) +85m 14:18 / mi
shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

On-trail and "back-country" shuffling on tele skis around the hole.
Fun to explore the woods and finding some mini glades to carve a few turns! It is also nice how "old" overgrown trails reclaim their presence when there is a foot of snow - and to the skier's delight!

Road Running 36:54 [3] 4.76 mi (7:45 / mi) +69m 7:25 / mi
shoes: Altra gray (Torin 4)

Had to drive Nancy to her semiweekly PT. Instead of driving twice, I decided to go for a jog around town - masked and fogged up for the first mile, then I was able to unmask for a while in the more quiet streets.
Followed by 20 minutes post-run stretches and yoga poses in the parking lot, as they kept Nancy longer than usual. It felt balmy in the bright sun (~ 28F).
11 AM

Walking 16:10 [1] 0.68 mi (23:47 / mi) +12m 22:31 / mi
shoes: Altra gray (Torin 4)

Walk to the Library.
4 PM

Skate Skiing 1:03:53 [3] 6.07 mi (10:31 / mi) +59m 10:13 / mi
shoes: Rossi Xium Skate

Skate on SM groomed variable - width trails starting at Linden Farm.
They seem to narrow mostly on the uphills - did a fair bit of herring-boning, but otherwise ~ 80% super enjoyable as the sun was setting on a bright sky. Would have skied longer, but the tracks ended just as they approached the river. No tracks on the river.

XC Skiing 1:38:32 [2] 5.81 mi (16:58 / mi) +70m 16:21 / mi
shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

SH ski tracks just about 100% complete.
But I really don't need tracks - Anywhere in the open woods is fine smooth gliding with the tele skis. Classic ski-O would also be possible in these conditions.

Classic Skiing 1:13:40 [2] 5.07 mi (14:32 / mi) +62m 14:00 / mi
shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

Classic ski to touch up the tracks around the hole.
3 inches of weightless cold fluff! Barely noticable! Good pace even with tele skis. Sun rising on a cold bright morning. Winter at its best!

Snow Shoveling/Moving 30:00 [1]

Shoveling around the cars and the paths.

Snow Shoveling/Moving 1:10:00 [1]

First: Scraping the roof and panels using the Minneswoota. The heavily compacted blocks of snow required real scraping in small sections. That got me hot! Then transporting the fallen blocks and scraps around on the porch to the front yard snow piles. That was the fun part (aerobic workout!).

Road Running 57:02 [4] 8.01 mi (7:07 / mi) +157m 6:43 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

Savoring the hills - to Lee and back
and breaking in my new Torin 4's. First snow flakes dancing in the air, just as I stepped out of the house. We are expecting a week of 3 small snow events and temps below freezing. Bring in on ol' man Winter!
