8 AM

XC Skiing 1:22:26 [2] 5.57 mi (14:48 / mi) +112m 13:56 / mi
shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

Wiswall to Littlejohn w. Jamie.
Fabulous outing on tele skis - some stops of chatting and info-exchange. Easy going on 6 inches of superlight powder. Crunch underneath still noticeable. I demo'ed some tele turns in the fields. It got a bit sticky towards the end in the sun.

XC Skiing 30:51 [2] 2.34 mi (13:11 / mi) +39m 12:32 / mi
shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

Checking the state of ski tracks in my neigborhood on my way home.
They have been well traveled on . Good! No sticking on these, but snow-caking on off-track routes. It's the February sun!

Friday Feb 19 #

7 AM

XC Skiing 1:13:02 [2] 5.21 mi (14:01 / mi) +59m 13:32 / mi
shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

Touching up the ski tracks: 1 inch of fluff on top of crust

Better than I expected. Some atrociously deep boot tracks around - probably folks walking during the rain - now seriously frozen in. Was able to navigate around it for the most part.
10 AM

Road Running 45:01 [3] 6.01 mi (7:29 / mi) +77m 7:12 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

Jog around town - Canney to Emerson and Bagdad.
While Nancy at PT. Legs were heavy from yesterday and from morning ski, but eventually warmed up after a mile or two. Light snow, outlying roads a bit covered, but no major slipping.

5 PM

Road Running 35:23 [3] 5.01 mi (7:04 / mi) +55m 6:50 / mi
shoes: Altra gray (Torin 4)

Around the block. Cold and getting dark. So upped the tempo to get warm and getting it over with.

4 PM

Walking 1:02:20 [2] 2.97 mi (20:59 / mi) +10m 20:46 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

2 m walking, 1 m running to retrieve the lost glove.

11 AM

Road Running 44:40 [3] 5.68 mi (7:52 / mi) +117m 7:23 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

The Hills of Newmarket - steeper than I expected!

Nice quiet "residential" running while N was at the dentist. Slow start after yesterday's half. These hills are great for training!
12 PM

Walking 46:57 [3] 1.62 mi (28:59 / mi) +39m 26:58 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

Then a leisure walk to cool down.

Note

Interesting weather fact on this "president's" birthday:
Tempertaures: Today / Tonight (F)
Durham NH: 32 / 28
Dallas TX: 15 / 2
Welcome to tropical NH!
10 AM

Road Running 1:36:47 [3] 13.11 mi (7:23 / mi) +192m 7:04 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

Planned a 9 miler but felt refreshed enough to add more miles into the bank
I added Maple Ridge which is a great gradual hill (1.5 miles) with 3 "heart brakes" at the end, then cruising home via Stepping Stone.
(L4 on the uphills).

Sunday Feb 14 #

7 AM

Skate Skiing 1:36:31 [2] 11.07 mi (8:43 / mi) +25m 8:39 / mi
shoes: Rossi Xium Skate

Early morning repeat of yesterday's skate ski on Lamprey and fields.

With the snow/sleet/rain mess in the forecast for the entire week, I wanted to take advantage of the stellar skiing conditions. A bit slower than yesterday, mostly because of poor visibility (diffuse light) during the first half hour, and some exploring in deeper crusty snow around the Newmarket boat landing.
5 PM

Snow Shoveling 30:00 [1]

Hacking, scraping and shoveling ice off the driveway. My kind of "weight" training
6 PM

Classic Skiing 1:01:41 [3] 5.14 mi (12:00 / mi) +88m 11:24 / mi
shoes: Atomic Cross Cap

Thrill-seeking on waxables in the dark - faster snow after warm-up!

A dab of VR60 gave me a nice kick, yet the glide was faster. Heart-beat raising downhill schussing - barely avoided face-plants.
