XC Skiing 1:01:24 [2] 4.15 mi (14:48 / mi) +39m 14:22 / mi
shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

2 inches of new snow turning to wetness as rain started to mix in. I took my wide waxables to touch up what was left of ski tracks. Tricky to wax for 32F snow/rain conditions. Reasonably fast gliding but very minimal kick which slowed me down troughout. If anything, a good double poling workout.

Road Running 2:20:07 [3] 18.25 mi (7:41 / mi) +264m 7:21 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

4-town loop on mostly quiet roads.
Goal: Relaxed sustainable pace. That worked until mile 15 after the hillier parts and headwinds of Lang's and Lee Hook. Then, energy started to drop a bit. A BBB (brilliant, bright, and brisk) day morning run.

Classic Skiing 32:03 [2] 2.54 mi (12:37 / mi) +57m 11:47 / mi
shoes: Fisher Nordic Cruising 164

Between icy and sinking deep into te tracks from Wiswall to Littlejohn
We lost at least 3 inches, tracks and SM trails are packed hard, the rest is for sinking-in. Not great at all. Time to go north!

Classic Skiing 36:03 [2] 3.06 mi (11:47 / mi) +42m 11:18 / mi
shoes: Fisher Nordic Cruising 164

Part 2 of Ice and sinking-in skiing.
Checking the tracks at SH. Not much fun. Need another snow dump or else let spring clean it all up....

Classic Skiing 38:27 [2] 3.51 mi (10:57 / mi) +52m 10:29 / mi
shoes: Fisher Nordic Cruising 164

Ice Crunching around Spruce Hole
Medium hardness, so ok to shred around on the tracks w. waxless boards.
4 PM

Road Running 36:49 [4] 5.01 mi (7:21 / mi) +70m 7:03 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

Yet another "around town" 5 miler to bridge the wait of Nancy's PT. A nice balmy 45!

Classic Skiing 1:02:08 [2] 5.25 mi (11:50 / mi) +85m 11:16 / mi
shoes: Fisher Nordic Cruising 164

Around the hole. From sugar crunch to sunny mash depending on the aspect.
Decided to use my waxless mini skis to avoid having to use klister. Mostly on the tracks today. About 95% visiting the Ski-O trails from 2018.
Rapid warm-up this morning!
4 PM

Road Running 1:08:21 [3] 9.4 mi (7:16 / mi) +171m 6:53 / mi
shoes: Altra dark gray (Torin 4)

Post-Covid Vaccination Run: Lee Hook clockwise
With Wednesday Hill Trifecta at the end. Then a big pasta plate with a large glass of wine. See which if any will give me a hangover...

Monday Feb 22 #

8 AM

Classic Skiing 34:22 [2] 2.98 mi (11:32 / mi) +49m 10:58 / mi
shoes: Atomic Waxless

Morning jaunt on no-wax skis.
No time to wax kickers for varying conditions. Ended up being just fine. Mostly an upper body workout incl. lots of double poling.
10 AM

Skate Skiing 30:10 [3] 4.02 mi (7:30 / mi) +17m 7:24 / mi
shoes: Atomic Skate RS9

A quick-skate between drop-off and pick-up
Nicely regroomed by the Drehers. Bonus!

shoes: L.L. Bean Tele

"in-Town" Backcountry Adventure w. Jamie.
Good conditions on trails, but perfect conditions in the lesser traveled woods, meadows, and ponds. Fox tracks, blackberry stubbles, stone wall climbing, skate skiing and tele turning in the fields - Did I mention that we had fun?
