Orienteering race 46:56 intensity: (25 @1) + (5:38 @2) + (23:20 @3) + (17:06 @4) + (27 @5) 5.2 km (9:02 / km) +63m 8:31 / km

Autumn Trophy, Hillsborough. Well-planned and I really enjoyed it - started last and had a lovely time happily navving around. The novelty of runnable forest was marvellous after yesterday.
Lost over a minute on #2 (missed it & had to bounce off the path & back in) but apart from that navigation was careful and good. Appears I was lacking any speed, consistently slower than Olivia'so splits. Ah well.

Orienteering race 2:01:16 [3] 10.0 km (12:08 / km) +200m 11:01 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw Jun14

NIOC Slieve Martin / Rostrevor. Orienteering epicness! A long course and physical with it, combined with low vis mountain (though it felt super-high-vis after coming out of the thickest forest in the world).
Nav mostly grand, leaking time here & there.
Took me waaaay too long to get into the vicinity of #5, stuck to MTB trails, they were rough and I was hesitant.
Mistake to #11, again really hesitant on the MTB trails and I couldn't be sure where I was (couldn't pick up the direction change and the ride, the trail was so twisty), so bailed out to the main track and in cleanly.
#15 this longer route was planned. Plan was to go via the masts for a clean AP and since the mist was down I wanted to be safe. Picked up a sheep trail going up the mountain which was much easier than the surrounding mulch. Unfortunately here my heart went a bit wibbly and didn't grace me with a full episode, but from here till #21 I slowed right down and did a fair bit of walking to try & avoid anything unpleasant. Loved the mountain, not a fan of the forest, and some dubious mapping in amongst those trees, which is hardly surprising given how thick it is.
Most enjoyable day out though. Proper orienteering.

Event: WEE 14

6 PM

Running 39:01 intensity: (1:36 @1) + (1:16 @2) + (4:11 @3) + (13:51 @4) + (18:07 @5) 5.65 km (6:54 / km) +86m 6:25 / km
ahr:164 shoes: Salomon Speedcross

WEE Finale, Crawfordsburn. I think it had a good technical difficulty for a WEE, given that it was forest (and darkening forest at that) which is a first for many.
No major issues, a bit of hesitation out of #10 because I hadn't planned ahead far enough (did well on others though) and out of ?3 trying to find a way through the undergrowth, guessed left first, better to go right.
Legs felt really heavy, but it's hilly, and I imagine that's why.
HR monitor slipped but interesting that it read higher than reality.

Strength & Conditioning (HIIT) 25:00 intensity: (12:30 @0) + (12:30 @1)

30 on 30 off (such a short break!) x 5, exercises similar to recently so plank slaps, squat into shoulder press, weighted Russian twists, lunges, Russian deadlifts. Actually got tired by the end, too used to all the long breaks now I guess.

Note

Forgot to add Sunday's achievement of >14 hours' sleep.

Also I'll try a plan, dependent on getting rid of this cough, cut back the run volume / intensity as required. Hopefully now I'm out of aircon land it'll improve:

Mon - Long run on Divis (tick)
Tues - HIIT strength
Weds - WEE finale
Thurs - Cave Hill run
Fri - Barre (apparently this will almost kill me)
Sat - NIOC (if Friday doesn't finish me off, this might)
Sun - O at Hillsborough, probably
6 PM

Running long 1:14:56 intensity: (2:03 @1) + (21:56 @2) + (37:45 @3) + (13:12 @4) 10.65 km (7:02 / km) +240m 6:20 / km
ahr:147 max:162 shoes: Asics Nimbus blue & orange

Lovely evening conversational run on Divis with BARF + Olivia, getting the lowdown on WOC. Wish I could try turning the clock back a few years!
