Note

An amazing Dash & Splash today, somehow Storm Ciara didn't reach our wee patch and we had a glorious swim with a crazy high tide.
I'm still not considering running on consecutive days, but all things considered, my calves are okay today

Running 32:31 intensity: (15:00 @2) + (12:00 @3) + (5:31 @4) 5.0 km (6:30 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine Trail

Orangefield parkrun with the dog. Was supposed to be up the Mournes, but with high winds forecast, we decided to postpone.
A beautiful day though, and much more sheltered in the Lagan Valley compared to Chimney Rock. I took some advice from a wise orienteer, and listened to the birds tweeting on the way round. Excellent.
I put in a chunk of effort for the last bit, and once I realised it's okay to get out of breath/breathe faster, I enjoyed it.
Veda was very well behaved again. Second time just taking her on the lead (not the waist belt). It's a bit of a pain not being able to swing my arms freely, but it's not too bad, and infinitely preferable to tripping over her 15 times per kilometre.

Running 10:00 [2] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine Trail

Wee trot over & home. I should have added, knees were exceedingly happy today.

Strength & Conditioning (Pilates ) 30:00 [1]

Did my own workout today......thought I would have stacks of time (convinced no clients were coming to class).
And then lo and behold, loads turned up, and I had to teach. The horror lol!!

Strength & Conditioning (Wildfoot) 50:00 [1]

Swapped into Aga's superadult class today as
a/ I'm pretty old now
b/ I can't make my regular class.

Lots of mobility & primals, then the strength was

3 sets of
8 hip thrusters (up to 40kg now and it's very do-able still
6 pike push ups (feet against wall on floor)
6 each plank shoulder taps
6 Burpees

Heart rate up!! Haven't done burpees in forever and defo getting better hip mobility.

Lower back is fine (didn't move it much tho tbf) and L wrist/forearm is improving but not perfect.

Really sore (and worsening) larynx-y/pharynx-y area these past few days. Like someone tried to strangle me but I'm sure I'd recall that. Is this what ageing is like now!!! Just gradually bits getting sore/stopping working.

Off to gynaecology in a few weeks for a smear test follow up too. Hope all's okay. Wish I didn't have to go to the maternity unit for this kind of stuff.

Note

Low back is pretty well fine today. Good good.

Still cycling to work on Mondays & Wednesdays mostly, which is good movement and sky time, not to mention environmental bonus points. Really can't count it as training tho!

Strength & Conditioning (Wildfoot) 1:15:00 [1]

Skills
Shoulder stands, then 3 handstands (2 with Stephen then 1 against wall with Conor). My L forearm / wrist is sore.

Workout

Superset 1 X 3 rounds
Sumo squats with barbell ooooh progress! X 5. Set 1 30kg then sets 2 & 3 40kg. But my form went to shite with the heavier weight, and my low back hurts, not scary pain, just "are there any other muscles you would think about using, not just QL???" pain.
Rockets X 5

Superset 2 x 3 rounds
Dumbbell press (chest press) all rounds with 10s. Can't do 12.5kgs as one of the DBs is in the jitz centre.
Bulgarian split squat X 5 each leg, bodyweight. Knees nowhere near as sore as last week.

HIIT
But it was shoulder press (which I didn't really get my HR up on) and reverse curls (which was sore on my low back) and something primal the length of the gym (but by this stage I wasn't taking weight on my L wrist) so it was a bit of a damp squib really. No matter.

Strength & Conditioning (Pilates ) 55:00 [1]

Mostly lying down!! Lots of spinal flexion, of course typical, the one week she does rolling like a ball and my low back won't let me.
