10 AM

Hill Walking 2:23:41 [1] 6.34 km (22:40 / km) +237m 19:06 / km

Extraordinarily gentle hike up Doan from Ott. We had a new person, therefore moved at their pace. They got the fear of cliffs so actually didn't make the summit.
We did though, and somehow got great views even though the cloud felt like it should have been lower.
In Vivo Magna ESCs. Perfect, even a little tight, with toe socks plus waterproof socks.
8 PM

Strength & Conditioning (SMM) 30:00 [1]

5 rep SMM, with extras of the difficult ones ie split squats onwards

Friday Jun 7 #

2 PM

Running 15:26 [2] 1.61 km (9:35 / km) +43m 8:28 / km
shoes: Altra Lone Peak

1 mile wee jog from our summer camp to the beach etc.

Good to do it, clearly in no rush :)

Thursday Jun 6 #

Strength & Conditioning (Pilates ) 1:00:00 [1]

In person with Ali, hooray

Wednesday Jun 5 #

Orienteering 7:30 [2] 1.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Freet Feldom

Much more than this (controls out + in at Crawfordsburn) but I guess this is how much I ran.
The event seemed to go well - lots of happy punters and also many drowned rats. Such heavy downpours! A bunch of BB young people (mostly) succeeded on the Short course, which was very satisfying.
The only dubiosity was around map legibility. I just wonder does ISSOM standard really do this area any favours, particularly when scaled to 1:6000 to fit onto an A4 page.
Darkness under trees in evening, full leaf, pouring rain = also challenging for map legibility

Tuesday Jun 4 #

Running 16:00 [2] 2.4 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Altra Lone Peak

Run home (downhill) from Tuesday evening drop--off (at Forestside) with a 10 minute warm up walk / 5 minute cool down walk.
All very approximate as I had only my old-skool watch.
Felt really good! Proud of self! No longer a haul when I got to the flat bit, was fair bouncing along.
Then remembered I have two headache tablets on board. Ah well!

Strength & Conditioning (SMM) 20:00 [1]

3-rep SMM, with extras for the difficult ones (3 each heel up & down for split squats, 5 reps for lunges (very regressed using cushions & windowsill & bed for support).
During lunges, I'm concentrating on getting feet bending at metatarso-phalangeal joint (especially big toe). Right knee back is wildly painful (though do-able with lots of support). Plenty of room for improvement.

Monday Jun 3 #

Strength & Conditioning (Pilates ) 20:00 [1]

The second third (?) of Ali's class. Still standing! Rollers as support for deadlift holds = excellent
