Weight Room 2:00:00 [3]

I will have you know that I am logging this from the attackpoint Android app that I've been working on these past few months. I finally have something almost useful working, but it's definitely not polished and ready yet.

Running long 1:35:12 [3] 17.41 km (5:28 / km) +420m 4:53 / km
shoes: Asics gel kayano 22

Long run this afternoon. I had to stop and stretch like three times during this run, I was definitely not feeling it today. Might have something to do with the five reps of 115kg I managed to squat this morning. This i the last weekend of ski instructing for me so I'll probably restructure my week so that my long runs don't follow hours after picking heaving things up and putting them down again.

Orienteering (Route Choice) 1:34:12 [3] 10.59 km (8:54 / km) +154m 8:18 / km
shoes: VJ Bold

Another training with a focus on route choice. The weather was complete garbage, it wasn't awful at the beginning with just light rain and moderately cold, but throughout the course I experienced heavy rain, hail, and snow. Fingers were really cold at the end of it, and I needed help to get my gloves/cluesheet-holder/shoes off. Only one to finish the men's course though so there's that.

The print job wasn't very good today. The colors were really soft, which made reading certain features really difficult. On #2 I couldn't even see the green x in the circle until I read the clue, and on #6 I made a bad route choice because I couldn't see the blue.

GPS had some low accuracy today, I had to do a lot of adjusting to match the route to how I ran.

6. I didn't see the little blue riverbed between 6 and the trail, and even on the image after I enhanced the colors its still practically invisible. That would have been a much better attackpoint as it's much closer to the control. The circle was really different from how it was mapped, there were a bunch of huge knolls, and the mapped rocks were completely moss covered and <1 m. 1:15000 map so makes sense that the detail wasn't there, but the area was really confusing.

9. I messed this one up because I was around someone else. There was another girl running on the trail who left the trail super early. I remember thinking that it was definitely a little early. I wanted to wait until the seeing the white and the first riverbed before leaving the trail, but that plan went out the window. I guess I thought she had the same plan and that I somehow missed the riverbed or something.

17. I left 16 planning to hard compass into the control. Halfway through I realized there was a terrace, and the control was on the uphill edge. The green was really thick and my hand were really cold, so I went to the hillside and followed it to the depression.

Running hills 1:15:44 [3] 10.96 km (6:55 / km) +280m 6:08 / km
shoes: Asics gel kayano 22

Hill intervals were the workout today. It snowed some 10cm last night, so I did these on a road rather than on a field/trail like I had intended.
4x300m 4x200m 4x100m hill sprints. I don't think it was all bad for the first one of these, and I chose a pretty darn steep hill, but I think I could have pushed harder on some reps.

The elevation data from my gps is way off, so I guestimated it off an orienteering map.

Nice easy run around the lake. I've never gone around the whole lake before so I didn't know how long it would be. It was dark and snowing hard which brought the visibility down to a few meters despite my headlamp. Didn't get lost so that's great.
