Saturday Mar 4

orienteering race 1:16:00 [4]5.4 km (14:04 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Kyotees
Annual 2-day Stubblefield meet at Sam Houston National Forest. A thorny map with flattish terrain that made central Florida seem familiar. I had a good per/k time, helped by fairly simply navigation on Day 1. Still having significant leg fatigue and shin pain, but I went with the trail shoes, and that was a good compromise.
Note
As an aside, former Finnish national team member Ari Kattainen showed up at Stubblefield this weeked. He was in town on business for a couple of weeks up near Dallas and came down to kick all our butts, just like he used to. And he did, on Sunday anyway. Had dinner with him and a colleague. Was a lot of fun.

Friday Mar 3

Note
(injured)
Still having the splints des shins. Went shopping for new shoes. Got another pair of Asics Gel-Cumulus (9D) to work into the rotation, and a pair of Nike Air Zoom Kyotee trail shoes (men's 8! Shoe sizes are funny things). Our favorite fitter at Luke's Locker, Duncan Cragg, was delighted to diagnose my problems and suggest fixes. (Until Duncan found out we were also orienteering, he thought all those scratches on our legs were inflicted by nasty housecats. Ha!)

We're off to HOC's Stubblefield meet tomorrow. I'm planning to run -- I'l try out the Nikes. Also bringing O spikes and running shoes as back-ups. And, sandals in case I decide to just put my feet up instead, esp. Sunday. For the terrain, it's just not worth killing myself.

walking 30:00 [2]2.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
Just had to get out there and move.

Thursday Mar 2

walking 40:00 [1]
Walked a hilly route on grass. Had planned to go to gym but was trapped by rush hour traffic and punted.

Wednesday Mar 1

walking 30:00 [1]
(injured)
I hesitate to check injured, because this no doubt just temporary soreness, but it's severe enough to slow me to a walk today.

Tuesday Feb 28

running 20:00 [2]
Shins and knees are killing me today from the weekend's endeavors. Cut it short and iced when I got back.

Monday Feb 27

Note
(rest day)
Taking the day off today. Need to work on a new training schedule now that the half marathon is done. Lucky for me I live with the training schedule master.

Sunday Feb 26

orienteering race 1:50:09 [4]6.39 km (17:14 / km)
Go wtih the FLO Long, US Team Fundraiser. Made too many navigation errors to be competitive, but feel that physically, I've made some definite progress.
walking warm up/down 45:00 [1]
Warming up/down and walking to/from start. Didn't mind the distance, as it made it easy to keep moving before and after.
