Saturday Mar 31

orienteering race 1:18:24 [3]5.1 km (15:22 / km) +240m 12:27 / km
Borrowed from Tom's log:
"Friday:
3:00pm: arrive at DFW and check in.
3:15pm: through security and check-in for 4:40 flight to BWI.
4:00pm: check departure board. Flight is canceled. Only other BWI options are stand-by flights on Saturday. Instead we choose a 9pm flight to Philly. Unfortunately, bags will still go to BWI. Luckily, we carry our O gear with us.
8:00pm: Flight to Philly now delayed to 10:30pm. Then 11pm. Then 11:30pm.
Saturday:
12:01am: Finally board plane and zonk out.
4:?? am: Arrive in Philly.
5:30 am: Arrive at Howard Johnson and hop in bed.
9:00 am: Time to O... "

Very enjoyable O, even though I was frustrated at not being able to run on such runnable terrain. (I could manage a shuffle sometimes, though, which in many ways is less taxing than walking hard.) Felt in total control navigation-wise. I started off a bit slowly, as control 1-2 involved a steep descent and climb that my calf did not enjoy. But after that, it was more reasonable physically -- if one accepts as reasonable long rolling hills rather than short steep ones.

Counting on strength rather than speed, I took direct routes in most cases, choosing climb over distance. Worked really hard throughout the course and ran in from the go control, even though it hurt. What the heck, it was downhill. Iced the calf on the way to BWI to pick up bags.

Day 1: Green Y - Splits

Friday Mar 30

Event: DVOA A-Meet (Interscholastics)

Wednesday Mar 28

weight training 35:00 [3]
Weight training, legs, at LAF.

Tuesday Mar 27

weight training 40:00 [3]
Upper body at LAF near work. Good way to wait out the traffic on the 20-mile drive home. Note: I'm not checking injured anymore, even though I technically still am. When I'm able to log some running, that's when I'll officially be healed.
walking 55:00 [1]
My weekly walk with my friend Michelle. We don't go fast, but we do hit the hills. It was quite humid out last night, and I got sweaty from doing very little.

Sunday Mar 25

orienteering race 2:30:00 [3]
(injured)
Sid Richardson Scout Ranch B Meet, Day 2. Don't know exactly what my time was -- didn't really care. I'm just guessing. Course was 6.4 km and not quite as rocky as yesterday. Tom fixed the hiking pole, and it was quite a help. Worked on following a bearing, and found that I drift left all the time. Saw a few deer.
