Tennis 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: Purple cow

Group tennis lesson at Randolph tonight. I now have a sore R arm from all of that racquet swinging. It should also be noted that our instructor, Greg, let us use a real tennis ball several times tonight. Whoo hoo! Normally we use a variety of pseudo tennis balls that are bigger and slower for the most part.

Meet me at Maynards tonight with Cristina and Caitlin. We got there a little late so we just took off running from our parking spot and cut off a bit of the 4 mile route. Thank heavens it was relatively cool today.

Tonight was a run around Randolph. I walked home after finishing the loop so I ran almost 3.3 miles according to my fancy watch. The run was good - two days in a row now so I want to keep it going. It was harder than usual because of the heat - about 90 degrees when I started at 6:30 pm.

Running 31:12 [2] 2.45 mi (12:44 / mi) +11m 12:34 / mi

I went out to Saguaro East down the Broadway trails with Cristina. This was my first time running with Inov8s and they felt nice and light. The trails there are some of my favorites because they are nice and soft and sometimes form little single-track "chutes" and they make me feel fast when I run through these sections. I saw a jackrabbit that loped ahead on the trail in front of me and the hopped off to watch me pass by. It looked like a skinny basketball player kind of a jackrabbit. Then I ran over a mound of dirt next to a huge hole. I don't mind saying that I sped up a little when I saw the huge hole as I was a little nervous of the kind of animal that could make such a big hole. Later Cristina saw a badger peeping out there which would have been neat to see. I actually walked for a bit in addition to what I logged here. I think I had a bad pump site earlier in the day so I didn't push it today.

Rowing/Paddling 1:30:00 [1]

Out on a tiny little puddle in Tempe for a sculling lesson and my third time in a single! My coach was a recent super whiz on the junior national team and she was very patient while I spent most of the time trying to work on rowing with my blades off the water - with little success. On the plus side I didn't flip or anything. It was awesome to get out on the water and I'm looking forward to getting Cristina out in a double sometime soon:)
