Walking 50:00 [3]

I walked around the lake today (in the opposite direction as yesterday so it was totally different). It was nice to go outside and I wish I could have been more active today but I'm feeling stressed about the amount of material for my classes that I haven't read.

Short run around the lake listening to a Motley Fool podcast. Not as engaging as Planet Money or Fresh Air. Oh, and Feet paid a visit to Kringsjå and we had a lovely homemade dinner after he and Cristina went out for a map run.

Running 20:00 [2]

I'm getting over a little cough and head cold but have been feeling lazy and in need of exercise. We went on a trail to the northwest of Kringja sort of.

Walking 1:00:00 [2]

I ran for about 20 minutes and then tried to walk back on the same trails. I missed one trail and ended up north of the lake instead of just west of it so I decided to go off the trail perpendicular to the lake. That worked out well and I ended up at a perfect intersection of trails.

Running 40:00 [3]

Ran out and back on a nice road leading out from the lake. We passed a whole flock of young mountain-bikers along the way.

Walking 1:30:00 [3]

Walked on trails up to another lake and then back. I was feeling a bit tired from the run yesterday so I just wanted to be outside before the threatening clouds started acting out. Afterwards I went to the National Gallery and saw a bunch of nice paintings including the Munch room (Scream, etc). I think the three that were stolen had glass and extra security but the rest looked normal.

Running 32:00 [2]

I headed to the gravel path up above the main trail around the lake. I ran around the wide gravel trail on one side of the lake. I took a leap off onto on some smaller trails for a bit on the far side of the lake. That part was really fun but I was worried about accidentally running to Bergen so I continued around the lake. I followed this with a 30 minute cooldown walk.

Running 40:00 [2]

Don't laugh. I ran around the lake again. I took some trails on the far side of the lake and had to walk for the latter part of a big climb. After a while of going up this hill I realized that it wasn't curving around the lake anytime soon like I thought it would so I turned around.

I followed this with about 4000 of walking and enjoying the nice day. We started a 3 lecture series on reviewing basic immunology and microbiology today so I figure I had better get in some outdoors time now. So far almost everyone I've met has been from a different country - actually haven't met a single other person from the US yet!

Running 30:00 [2]

After attending some orientation sessions in the morning at the University I came home to take a break from school and run a bit.

I managed to get out the door finally after catching the live radio for the long finish - quite exciting to see hear about Carol and Aly and the GPS tracking was great. So I felt like running more but was pressed for time so I just ran around the lake (but the other direction so it was totally different:)). Then I ran to catch the T to meet my group for several concerts tonight. The first one turned out to be loud heavy metal so we actually came home before the late jazz concert. Too bad but classes start tomorrow so nobody felt like staying out late.

Running 30:00 [2]

Ran around the lake again... can't seem to get away from it. I must promise myself to do a more interesting run tomorrow... or maybe when someone is back in the country who would be willing to come search for me:)

My legs were achy from walking around Oslo yesterday for hours with my orientation group. About 5 of us international students from the same program wore our "buddy leaders" out and kept deflecting their requests to go to a campus pub until 7 pm. Finally we gave in and I had the pleasure of purchasing a beer for $11. Well that's find it you're into specialty microbrews but this was just a regular beer for college kids. Ah well.

Running 30:00 [2]

Ran around the lake but took some upper big trails for most of it. I did a few pickups at the end while running back through the sports college. I was listening to a mix from college which really got me going (Cher, a few a capalla songs, Madonna, Garth Brooks, Moxy fruvus). Yeah we were weird even in college.

Running 32:00 [2]

Ran around my little lake again with some bonus running up a side-path for a few minutes. Walked back home for a few minutes to cool down. I need to start lengthening my runs as 30 minutes is great to do every day but especially before classes start I want to get in at least 45 minutes. Also the lake may start to get old fast.

Running 35:00 [3]

Went for an easy run with Cristina and Øystein around Sognsvann (the little lake near our student village).

To be continued....
(we're going to get the key to Cristina's room now!)

OK so the room looks great, a slightly bigger bed than in my room, much bigger kitchen with a dishwasher(!) and sharing with only 4 rooms.

Now back to the run. We met up with Øystein for the run and he was nice enough to run at my speed (OK I was pushing it a bit up some small hills). After about 30 minutes I begged for mercy and cooled down for 15 minutes while they ran a little more. Afterwards we ate our first true meal out (hot dogs don't really count do they?) downtown at Yaya's, a quirky Thai place.
