Walking 1:10:00 [2] 4.0 mi (17:30 / mi)
shoes: Purple cow

It was tooooo hot to run so I waited until about an hour before sundown and walked around Reid Park. If I believed in reading weather reports in Tucson I would have chosen a gym activity today.

My nice walk was followed by dinner of grilled chicken and veggie kabobs marinated in a teriyaki ginger sauce (I believe this was courtesy of Taco-A) and corn on the cob. Yummy.

Cycling 1:00:00 [1] 10.4 mi (5:46 / mi)

I did my best to make Taco-C miss her flight to Mora Sweden by dropping her off about 30 minutes before her flight. She outfoxed me at the ticket counter however and somehow rebooked herself and was able to make all of her original connections.

Afterwards I decided to bike to a softball game at Lincoln park. Kristy is a friend from work who's father is a softball coach at the University of British Columbia. They come to a big tournament in Tucson every year and Kristy rallies the nurses at work to be on the UBC cheering squad.

It had been ages since I last cycled so I drove to a nearby park to both shorten the trip and avoid some nasty roads. From that park I hopped on the Aviation Parkway bike path and took that part of the way to Lincoln Park. Like many nice paths for bikers in Tucson this one abruptly ended about halfway to my destination.

The game was great! UBC crushed their competitors from the midwest and did not suffer from Laura (coworker) handling the scoreboard. It was interesting that the UBC team all looked very fit while the opposing team was pretty chunky as a rule. I wonder if it's a Canada vs. USA thing or a better team vs. worse team thing. On that note I have decided to try a Good Housekeeping inspired Mediterranean diet for a few days while Taco-A is out of the house. I will avoid all softball playing though.

Running 50:00 [2] 3.5 mi (14:17 / mi)
shoes: Purple cow

Ran around Reid (about 3.5 miles) and then walked home (walk about 0.5 miles). My calves are still sore from Sunday but it felt good to stretch them out.

Also did about 30 crunches and 10 girlie pushups before the run.

Running 43:00 [2] 6.0 km (7:10 / km)
shoes: Purple cow

Wow! My calves are sore from the trail race yesterday. I'm not sure whether it was running in a wash or the little hills that did them in. Anyway, it felt nice to stretch them out today and run though I did premedicate with some ibuprofen:) Cristina and I ran into Aly who ditched us somewhere on 4th ave.

Running race 42:56 [3] 3.93 mi (10:55 / mi)
shoes: Red lightning

Today I ran a 4 mile race called Sunrise over Old Tucson. This is the second year I've run it and the first year that I was one of the runners who took a wrong turn. Luckily we were able to get back on track without too much of a problem and without significantly altering the length of the course. I felt great most of the time except when I had to stop because my shorts were falling down and the drawstring was tied in a tight knot.

Oh most importantly I took 3 minutes off my time from last year at the same race:)
