Hike 5:00:00 [3] 20.8 km (14:25 / km)
shoes: Saucony peregrine 7

Day 3. We tried to start a little earlier but only managed to get going by 6.15, it was a beautiful morning for hiking with a gentle down hill to the valley floor and across to the interstate 80. We stopped at a small camp ground to fill up with water with no further water stops for the rest of our day our packs were rather heavy. Then the climbing started, gradual but consistent with the heat starting to hit us again around 10am. We hiked through dry semi arid mountainous terrain the whole day stopping to avoid the mid day sun at 9 miles in. A group of hikers began to gather, most seeming to carry far less then us, we chatted to one or two of them. Then for another 4 miles to our camp for the day on top of another ridge line with an amazing sunset. The day was not without surprise as we were climbing out the last valley in the hot afternoon sun we came upon a medium sized rattle snake! After much hissing and rattling he slithered off too the side rather irritated with us, then another one just around the next corner! Putting us on edge. Bron picked up some small blisters on her baby toes but we seem to have managed them fine at this stage. Camped out at mile 36. Days distance 13 miles, 20.8km. Further than our 5 day hike in the berg. Total 60.5km
