Hike 2:30:00 [3] 8.0 km (18:45 / km)
shoes: Saucony peregrine 7
Day 4. We planned a ‘nero’ day which is the term used for a day that’s not quite a zero km day. Mount Laguna was just 5 miles away, we woke in our own time and set off at a comfortable pace reaching the campsite in just on 2.5hrs. The vegetation changed to forest as we approached the camp ground and we spotted a view woodpeckers along the way. At Laguna, camp sites go for $25 a night for 8 people so we combined with more than 8 others and the site was paid for by one of them refusing to let any others contribute. For lunch we hiked 1/2 mile into town for a burger at the local diner, bought some food supplies at the trading post where all hikers were given a free ice lolly and then posted some of our extra kit down the trail to lighten our load for only $9 (somehow we got a lucky discount), this postage box can be ‘bounced’ on to other destinations if unopened for free. We then went back to our site to find some guy offering beers to all PCT hikers which we enjoyed. Water stops for the next 70 miles look few and far between, but we’ve planned well and hoping that things work out for us. Days distance 5 miles, 8km, total distance 68.5km.
