8 AM

Paddle 1:25:13 [3] 18.66 km (4:34 / km)
ahr:157 max:184

After 3-4km Wu, MJ and I raced the masters k2 race, I tested out some surf board wax on my paddle to stop the pump and it improved things enough that it wasn’t an issue today, even though it was there. Sadly my legs went dead and the portages weren’t fast, but we were still strong enough to get 3rd, being two fast boats.

Overall I enjoyed the weekend a lot, organising was super fulfilling, everyone was happy with the event, it went off smoothly, with around 270 paddlers racing over the weekend.

Paddle 20:36 [3] 3.31 km (6:13 / km)
ahr:118 max:156

k2 guppy race lead out, definitely my favourite race of the weekend, the combination that won just loved it so much.

Paddle 1:30:09 [3] 18.44 km (4:53 / km)

Masters k1, started with everyone 35-45, made it onto front bunch, it was going well and I was managing to get a few diamonds but started getting forearm pump before the first portage around 6km in and came off, ran hard on the portage and managed to get back on but wasted a lot of energy and the pump wasn’t going away, paddled the rest of the way trying to hold off the chase bunch, which I managed to do. 6th.

Paddle 34:50 [3] 5.61 km (6:13 / km)
ahr:122 max:144

Guppy lead out for the u12 SA champs race. 4 boats raced each other so hard, they didn’t pace themselves at all, and 3 of the 4 boats, ended the race struggling to breath or with really bad cramps. Sjo, most people can’t push themselves this hard.
