QOC Great Falls Advanced with Rico. This was designed to be a line-o because of permitting. As is typical for me, was sloppy and not on the line getting to 1. Getting a feel for Rico and how much I would need to pay attention to him (not much at all). Mostly clean through 7 although I had to wrangle Rico back in from the trail he wanted to run on before punching 7. Parallel trail most of the way to 8, so I took it but then went too far south on the attack off the corner and had to come back. Long line from 10 to 11 and ended up a bit to the west but knew where I was based on the small hill features. Fun change with the course design and almost completely off trail. Rico was a stud.

Parked 1.5mi away and took the trails in to the start because the line of cars at the entrance was almost an hour long. Trekking there and back plus to the start control.

Rootstock's Wild Pig in Reading PA with Dusty. Got 4 maps pre race...trail map of Neversink, 1:20k USGS of Neversink, general city trail map, and 1:10k map of Pagoda area N to S/F. 1 mile foot prologue to start. We were a bit rushed and I dropped the tiny passport for it. Got another from Abby, so we started a min or 2 late. Back to the bikes, found the passport right next to my bike. Oh well. Did the E side of the park first before heading south to the Neversink trail system. Major bobble at CP I, going way south and having to come back around. Rode through Reading and bobbled a bit finding the first CP in Neversink. Thoroughly enjoyed this part of the course....some great overlooks and awesome CP locations. Trading places with NYARA for most of the race. Pagoda was very cool, as was the peace sign rock face. Heading back towards the finish, NYARA passed us on the final 2 CPs and beat us home by a few minutes. Jeff/Fritz and Joe's teams raced together and beat us by 20 for the win. Overall, we loved the course layout and area. Great mix of trails and route choice on a beautiful day. Plus soft pretzels at the finish! Get out and do some Rootstock races next year.

Camped in Caledonia State Park. Beautiful hike with some cool historical spots and buildings along the way. Had planned to go on some of the AT later but opted for a leisurely afternoon around the campfire instead.

Stopped at Black Hill on the way to camping. Started raining right after we started. Took a sweet long curved bridge covered in dry leaves too fast and ate it. Slid a graceful 8-10', L hip, L bow, R knee taking the brunt of it. Great trails here, part of MoCo Epic.
