Monster Cross 50 Miler in Pocahontas. 2 laps. I registered for pro/elite women, fully planning on getting destroyed, especially with the caliber of actual pros who showed up. However, I guess I missed the memo (and there were no announcements or starting horn/gun) that the elite groups started ahead of the main pack. Oops, rookie mistake. The field was pretty evenly split with mtb's and cx bikes. I went with the hardtail and felt a lot more confident on the downs and gravel/tight turns. The course was mostly gravel/sandy 2 track with some wider singletrack type trails and several road sections. I felt strong all race and was felt like I was able to keep my foot on the gas. Nutrition was much better than SM100 and I didn't fall behind with it. Progress with these bike races. 70F gorgeous day. Someone got seriously injured and was airlifted from the course, causing them to close the course for ~20min to anyone who came upon the field they used for the LZ. It sounded bad, as supposedly she stopped breathing at one point. I was not caught, but I'm not sure how they'll be able to sort out results, if they try.

Kennedy Peak with Dust, Dee, Deb and a pack of dogs. Did the clockwise loop from Stephens Trail lot. I left my phone at the top and realized it a mile and change down the trail. Made for some bonus running miles. I bushwhacked up the mtn then ran back down the trail and eventually caught back up with the group.
