Bike 1:10:00 [3] 16.0 mi (13.7 mph)
shoes: Clementine

Standard ride to the clinic. Wow. Got freakin clipped by a box truck on Old Bridge riding with traffic in the right lane of a divided 4 lane road. He cut it super close with his cab which meant zero space with the box. Dragged my bar a couple feet down the side but managed to stay upright. Luckily riding an mtb. Saving grace was he did it at a red light. All the traffic behind me saw it and stopped well short of us. I whipped around to the driver side and exchanged a few words. Enlightened him on the 3 foot law. He denied it all and said there was no way he could have hit me. Damn that was close. Never been hit before. The ensuing adrenaline dump was not pleasant.

Mindy was in the area, so she came over for some adventuring from the house! Threw bikes in the boat and paddled to FH marina. The cormorants are out in droves right now.

Bike 1:02:20 [3] 7.28 mi (7.0 mph) +930ft
shoes: Peri

FH trails were closed due to a light mist (shocker) so we hit the BROT trail, which was dry. It's fun and techy...a good rainy day option. Limited on time, so a shortish ride. Note on Peri: had just gotten her back after having brakes bled. About 45min in, noticed rear brake was squishy. Fluid leaking out of the lever. Busted seal. I never had a problem with these brakes on the Era, so I'm hoping this will be the last snafu with them on the changeover. If not, I'll be switching to XT.

Paddle 26:36 [3] 1.97 mi (13:29 / mi) +12ft 13:24 / mi

Paddle back. It was great catching up with Mindy...so glad she could join in on some fun training!

Run 31:23 [3] 2.24 mi (14:00 / mi) +83ft 13:32 / mi
shoes: Altra LP 3.0 Red

AR shuffle with heavy packs for 30 to put in on Bull Run with Rico and Dust.

Paddle 45:24 [3] 2.01 mi (22:35 / mi)

After a 10min transition, we managed to lure Rico away from his frog hunting and get on the water. Rico in my boat, packs in Dusty's. Some nice little rapids occasionally, but the water was pretty slow otherwise. Rico went swimming 3x, so there was some dog fishing to be had. He decided he likes to live on the edge, so he would ride with all 4 feet on the bow of the boat, which was also why he fell in so many times.

Trekking 9:26 [3] 0.47 mi (20:11 / mi) +179ft 14:49 / mi
shoes: Altra LP 3.0 Red

Back to the van. Note to self: do NOT wear PFD under pack. Strapped on the outside is much better.
5 PM

Trekking 46:00 [3] 1.9 mi (24:13 / mi)
shoes: 2nd Altra LP 3.0 Red

Dog hike to end the day with Dee and Anne. Ernie ran for most of it. Strong little bugger.

Tour de Poca 50mile. 1st female. Put on by the same group from Monster Cross, so super laid back, aka not organized. No aid other than some water jugs. Course was about 1/2 fire roads, 1/2 singletrack. Went with the hardtail. Went out hard the first 10 miles on fire roads, which was a Monster Cross section in reverse. Stayed with the loose lead pack. There was one other gal in front of me, and I kept her w/in 25sec in the first 25 miles. Blueberry trail and some of the new trails were a blast to ride. Couldn't really tuck in behind anyone at all throughout the day, so I mostly worked alone. After the 25/50 split, I never saw the other female again, so I figured she either dusted me or was only doing the 25. Significant slower/not flowy ST from miles 30-40 which put a beating on the low back. My legs felt solid for the most part all day. I think taking Sustain every 10-15miles along with sipping Ultraformance did the trick on a warm day. Back on the fire roads for the last 10 miles, just keeping the pressure up and getting some much needed calories and fluids in. One of the RVA guys I had been trading places with throughout the day caught me towards the end and gave me a draft for a mile or 2. Passed him on the last stretch of pavement and he didn't want to hang, so soloed into the finish. 1st female, not sure about overall yet. I think I love this bike racing thang.

Note

Exhausted from work. Tinkered with Clementine, gave her a bath and new shoes for tomorrow's race. Walked the dogs and napped.

CC Spins #4. Series finale. Good turnout on a warmer evening. The crowd and TBL teammates were fantastic. Shot off the line to lead out the field and aimed to go as hard as possible until I started lapping people. Kept the pressure on, but the next 3 women were working together behind me. With less than 10 laps to go, Erin broke away from them and gave chase. I came around the main turn with 6 or 7 to go and hear Dee yell, "SHE'S COMING. 9 SECONDS." Oh yeah. Hammer down. She gained a couple more sec bit I pulled away again for the win. Series champ. Amazing race series.
