Set off pretty hard for the first few minutes with a central lad immediately opening out a bit of a gap to me and Ali. Ali came past at about 5 minutes and I grimly hung on until the top. On the steep muddy start of the descent I managed to get a decent gap on him whilst overtaking the struggling central guy in flats. Ali was then closing me down on the long road descent as I had quite a grim stitch but kept the damage to a minimum and had just enough space to hold him off till the end by about ten seconds! I think that was a pretty solid time for the poor conditions so reckon the best way to train is either to run 40km a week and cross train like a mother f***** or to do one week of big miles.

HR averaged low end threshold... Guess that is the looong descent

Easy cruise with Ali up to the monument for the 7th time in the last 8 days. Told Ali I would keep my hr under 125 on the way home and as a result ran a flat km in 6:16... Gave up when I accidentally hit 126 :'(

Tempoish up Great Dodd as I was on a tight schedule. Very marshy going for the first part of the climb with a nice stiff headwind the whole way up... Solid run but can't imagine I am going to feel too fresh on the Callendar Crags race on Saturday. Aaah well ;) Top was covered in clag and the path petered out so was a bit unsure but it was all gooood

Supposed to be meeting Iain and Maf at 12:30 but managed to miss them through a series of unfortunate events. Eventually found them towards the end and got in a precious few miles. Felt grim for the first half an hour and then great for the next hour. Shorter day tomorrow I think although feeling totally fine :o
