Hertfordshire.
Felt my lungs on the first climb and knew today was going to be tough. have been feeling some tummy probs this week as well, and obviously not fully recovered from the marathon.
This was not fun from about 3/4 in, and Pete was on a good day which didn't make it any easier.
I'd rather not talk too much about this one.

Felt a bit tighter than expected in hamstrings etc. Might skip parkrun tomorrow and rest a bit longer. was fun to get out again!
In other news, i really think these shoes are shite... have ordered some asics that i tried on in valencia, see how that goes

Valencia Marathon
Finished today with 3:29:25. Very happy with the run given the injury, and given I wasn't confident it would be able to hold up the full distance.
Started slow as per the plan then relaxed into a steady 4:50minkm pace until 28km where I felt the signs of cramp coming on in my left calf. Eased off for 2km the got back Ito the rythym. Caffeine gel at 32km was the best move ever. At 36km was feeling great and stepped it up to 4:30minkm. Maintained that speed til the end, which was a great feeling passing everyone and a great feeling to feel good at the end.

V. Tight now but no majors
Good stuff. Time for some rest!

Lessons learnt
- not too much water day of, I had to stop twice to pee!
- overtraining is worse than under training
- caffeine gel or 2 on race day
- cramp tablet worth a look
- more leg strength work

Beautiful run but the foot and legs don't feel amazing.
Will have to play it by ear tomorrow.

Marathon in 2 days. Can't say the foot feels great and I have a feeling that Sunday's gonna be hell.
Having said that I'm not ruling out finishing, but am in a reasonable headspace and won't be too disappointed if I have to pull out around 25k... See how we go on the day.

16k run home
2 hotlaps of surrey quay which went ok on the ankle, pain got up to about a 2.
calves a bit sore afterwards, but thats managable.

Quite happy with being able to put an effort in. high hopes.
2nd on the surrey docks lap. confident i can take it if i really go balls out.

Went on a clubride with Hackney CC (and Dom).
Ride felt a bit long, but was quite a relaxed pace 95% of the time.
Fun and social, but maybe not quite tough enough as a training ride

Lunchrun with Colin, Tim and Jules
Felt pretty good from the start so decided to push the pace slightly from the last couple of runs... not quite tempo, closer to racepace.
Colin stuck with me which was nice and felt good right to the end.

Pain stayed below 3, mostly about a 2.

I'm running valencia!

Today was my self-defined D-Day
If i could get through 25k on saturday with a period at racepace and be able to run again on Monday without it being any worse, it was a yes.

Today's run was the best it's felt in a long time.
Pain was between a 0 and a 1 for the first 8 km, then around a 3-5 for a km, then back to a 1 for the last 2 k (after a quick rest at lights, rolling ankle around etc and relaxing the pace a bit more)

finally some progress!

Solo ride to Woolwich.
Decided to go across the ferry which was fun, only to find that the roads on the Northside westbound were all closed. Rode around in circles for hours then just went on the A road.

Started out as a workout, ended up being more sightseeing

25k achilles test w/ 7km at revised race pace

Figured that if i can do this one, and feel ok then i'm still in for the marathon.
Will see how it feels tomorrow morning

Run felt sluggish, but achilles felt a LOT better in my old shoes... think i'll chuck out the new ones (i say new, but they've done 300km)
Definately lost some power, and my stride is a bit different, which means other muscles are sore, but overall happy i could get through it.
I'm no speed demon tho...

Another achilles test.
Again didn't feel great during the run.
feels a bit tight afterwards, will monitor ovenight.

Thinking that it may actually be related to these new shoes... will run on the weekend with my oldies.
