Orienteering race (middle) 1:04:55 [3] 5.73 km (11:20 / km) +196m 9:40 / km

Turbo chook mt pearson again
Same as yesterday, took it a bit slower and tried to be more sure of myself. nailed more controls than yesterday and a bit quicker, but lost 10 minutes at one control.
I think i approached it perfectly, but was second guessing myself when i saw one of the boys coming down from above... i decided he must have come from the control, and went on a wild goose chase.

Really struggle when there are a lot of boulders in the circle... i haven't quite figured out how to identify which boulder it should be, often the boulders i see doesn't seem to correlate with the map, as i think i'm not really clear on what is mapped as what.

mt pearson middle for turbochook.
Started feeling a little bit more in control. before the start i decided to consciously slow down, and walk where i wasn't sure rather than running and glancing.
Felt a lot better... will continue this until i get the confidence back

Bicheno sprint across the boulder fields on the shoreline
Made a lot of mistakes, mostly from overrunning early, then overconfidence later.
super fun area for this sort of event.

bush score.
interesting format "odds&evens". Collect one or the other, then change at the transition control.
Screwed one control, then missed one on the way back without time to correct and find it. might have had an ok score if not for that.

Would like to get power meter sorted for these, might be quite cool.
need some cushier tires for the descent, really uncomfortable.

Bruny island trail race on the Labillardiere peninsula.
pouring rain for the first half on muddy firetrails. Unfortunately was wearing some old inov8s with wornout tread so was slipping all over the place, even having to walk some uphills purely because of the traction.
It cleared up for the second half on singletrack which was nice and a bit technical.
15th or so out of 90 odd. felt like i kept a pretty good energy level over the second half and was interesting doing a relatively flat run for a change.
still obviously a way off where i'd like to be

up knocklofty on firetrails (some steep, some technical) and down the 'easy' singletrack.
Will try down the medium singletrack next time as the firetrail diversion was rocky af.
Pretty pumped to get all the way up without needing to hikeabike at all... finding the steep up sections i struggle with are because i don't have enough speed to steer reliably, so just need to power up briefly for those bits.

Summit via knocklofty, breakneck, hunters and lost world.
hunters to lost world is probably the coolest track i've ever run.
Think of lost world like 1km of ruined castle boulder scrambling... really really sketchy, and very hard to stay on track, even with hivis arrows every 5 metres. 30mins for 1km.
So cool.

So ended up taking over an hour longer than expected, which means i had to dial in to some calls on the descent. I don't much mind making a habit of this occassionally.

Think i'm getting close to having mapped most of the main trails on this quarter of the mountain, which means its time to start driving up and exploring the more remote/exposed parts on the other sides.
