Metro League Manly Vale
didn't get selected for div1 team so had a bit of a point to prove, but have been on the edge of sick last week with the fam (all covid clear) so wasn't sure how i'd hold up.
After 4 controls or so started tasting something acidic so took it a bit easier, but still wasn't feeling great at the end or for the rest of the afternoon... dunno.
Anyway nav wasn't fantastic, losing time here and there... noteable was the long leg (15) which i wanted to head directly up to the road (possibly a lot quicker and easier than trail) but stuffed that up and ended up half trail half road... oh well. Fun in the wet!
Was only 1 minute off Greg so selection well made, although Alistair did mispunch... maybe i should get selected ahead of him next time :P

Lane cove loop with brooner. was concerned about energy most of the way but made it within 200m of the finish before spontaneously collapsing in a heap.
Nice to feel exhausted in a familiar fitness-way rather than anything sinister, and great to have some company, and get on something other than TVT

very very busy working and oscar was home from daycare (sick) so a pretty hectic day. Oscar and May finally asleep at 9pm so felt like it would be good for the brain to get out so i didn't dream about work.
nice headtorch run meandering around the golf course, and a bit of the wolli track. Funny that around here some of the urban paths feel a bit scarier than in the bush at night
One effort up homer hill. starting to feel like i can put in efforts, but always surprised at just how slow it ends up. to be expected.

pretty nice route, sydney park white through some back alleys to tempe trail, then some little bits of cliff at the back of tempe. felt like a trail run. just that westconnex bit at canal rd that spoils it. could actually add in the east TVT for a 10k... next time

Had intended just to be a 15minute jaunt but looked down at my watch and 9k had passed.
really funny how barefoot can feel so clunky for the first km but adjust through the run

AH MAH GAHD the lillyfield road pedestrian bridge is permanently gone... the alternative is a LONG crossing at lights. What a terrible step backwards. Can only hope the masses of construction are building an even better way of getting through as admittedly there were some gaps with getting through that area safely on a bike

2 stair and 2 1km trail segments.
2nd on leaderboards, 1st was flying, still 30s off, but this is a fast as i can go here... probably can only cut 5s off on dry surface and maybe 10s a bit more rested.
Don't think i can use the excuse that the track has changed either, as i think that bit is further west... a good goal though to take these segments someday.

Had to log into a work call after the 3rd segment so the last 20mins was a bit stop starty when i had to talk.

had clearance for a longer ride, but wasn't really feeling snappy from the start. trudged through the first half, with some rain, and managed to get through with a couple of gels and 2 bottles. prob need more with me on anything longer than 3 hrs.
slow going partly due to sightseeing but nice to see helensburgh and otford... so many more options with 4 hrs to spare.

also had a slow flat from the climb to waterfall but managed to get home with a few stops to fill er up

Someone made strava segments named Marrickville A-H so tried running them in order. Quite fun, some down, some up and the last a flat km. Would do them out of order next time as there was a bit of doubling back.
pretty happy with how the chest held up. calves and legs fairly done by the end
