Solo ride to Woolwich.
Decided to go across the ferry which was fun, only to find that the roads on the Northside westbound were all closed. Rode around in circles for hours then just went on the A road.

Started out as a workout, ended up being more sightseeing

25k achilles test w/ 7km at revised race pace

Figured that if i can do this one, and feel ok then i'm still in for the marathon.
Will see how it feels tomorrow morning

Run felt sluggish, but achilles felt a LOT better in my old shoes... think i'll chuck out the new ones (i say new, but they've done 300km)
Definately lost some power, and my stride is a bit different, which means other muscles are sore, but overall happy i could get through it.
I'm no speed demon tho...
2 PM

Cycling 38:30 [4] 13.67 km (21.3 kph) +6m

Quick spin. Intended to flush the legs out, and also to have a crack at a Rotherhithe segment.
Unfortunately it was way too windy to try anything, so wasn't really enjoying myself. came home

Another achilles test.
Again didn't feel great during the run.
feels a bit tight afterwards, will monitor ovenight.

Thinking that it may actually be related to these new shoes... will run on the weekend with my oldies.

Note

MRI results
"
...There is a small focus of bone bruising seen in the posterolateral talar dome but the overlying hyaline cartilate is intact...
...There is some bone bruising seen in the head of the talus at the talonavicular joint...
...There is a Prominent Stieda process of the posterior talus with surrounding synovitis...
...There is a full thickness but not quite full width tear of the ATFL...
...There is a tiny accesssory navicular seen at the distal tibialis posterior insertion...
Conclusion: Full thickness but not quite full width tear of the ATFL with post-traumatic effusion and synovitis. Bone bruising as described. Prominent Stieda process with surrounding synovitis
"

Essentially the main damage is not where i'm feeling pain.
We think that the pain i'm feeling is from a bone spur (Stieda process) which is pushing my ligament slightly out of alignment. Probably been doing it for a while.

Think i'm gonna run this thing... test runs tonight, tomorrow, and a long one on the weekend.
